Linda is the organizer of this project, so we'll see what she thinks is necessary to put these ideas into action. (A G-Mod, or Global Moderator, is a moderator with power across all boards, including board-editing abilities and a certain amount of administrative control.)

Sorry to shatter your fancies, but I'm not DH in disguise, although I agree that that would be awesome. Well, 'Monty Kensicle' is of course an anagram of 'Lemony Snicket', so ... The name Dante is certainly suspicious. But I'm fairly sure Dante is not DH - for one thing I do recall differences of opinion between them.

Hey guys, I've had a busy couple of days. Thanks for all the brainstorming suggestions, and for Kensicle for putting them all together. I put them all on the first post for reference. There are a lot of ideas, but thinking about it, I don't see why we can't put all of them into play - having a large variety of activities will be more likely to appeal to the largest amount of people. I counted seven contests - maybe we could get a separate volunteer to run and judge each contest (or be in charge of putting the entries up for peer judging), and would be jobs that would take place during the week of the anniversary. And then there are 5 other things that aren't contests - the timeline, collaborative fic, and special edition of the 667er are things that would need multiple volunteers and then one person in charge to put it all together, and would need to be completed before the anniversary. Profile theming and impersonation I see as basically the same thing, so I combined them into one line. We could do a week of profile theming and have impersonation be the theme one day (or two days - one day impersonate other 667ers, another day impersonate ASOUE characters), and we'd need one person in charge to post a thread each day, but the themes could be decided ahead of time. I added one more thing of my own, which is a "where are they now". I've been thinking of spearheading that one myself, and it would basically be asking each member to write 1-2 paragraphs about what they've been up to since joining 667 or since we've seen them last, and then send it to me. It could be a way of RSVPing and would all be completed before the anniversary and posted the first day.
Let's talk about timelines. June 22nd, 2012 is a Friday this year. I propose this be a week-long event starting Monday June 18th and ending Sunday June 24th, with the main celebration being the Friday. Coincidentally, the biggest anniversary celebration we've had to date was the fifth anniversary, which also fell on a Friday and had activities running from Monday through Sunday.
Ok, now I'm going through timing in my head. This doesn't have to be this way, but here's what I'm thinking: Monday - first theme day; all contest rules are posted and people can begin submitting entries. "Where are they now" is posted. Tuesday - second theme day; contests continue and first collaborative project is posted. Wednesday - third theme day; contests continue and second collaborative project is posted. Thursday - fourth theme day; contests continue and third collaborative project is posted. Friday - fifth theme day; we have a ball or a party post thread in the tradition of past years. Contest entries are due by midnight. Saturday - sixth theme day; contest judging takes place. Sunday - seventh theme day; contest winners announced and awards given.

I really hope Dong will get involved. He is sort of becoming dormant; a bit like the Dong in PJ's story Regicide. There is a problem about the Monday to Sunday thing. Different places are in different time zones, eg when it is midnight between 11th and the 12th of April, it is 9 am in Melbourne EST time. Will the time be according to the time that guest view?

Typically events of this nature go by the guest clock, and indeed it seems the most logical thing to do given we all have guaranteed access to it and there's little confusion as to how the timezones differ. Are we doing ASOUE characters, then? In that case I suggest as part of the organizing strategy we have a thread in which everyone publicly posts who they plan on impersonating so members have an idea about what characters are taken. (Another idea for a theme I had was centering profiles around favorite authors, if either the other themes prove problematic.) That all looks good. One thing that might be added is the 667er edition, and when it would be posted - Friday?

For people on that side of the globe, celebrations will start one day later as I imagine that we're going by American time. I don't think it'll affect the celebrations that much, as (I think) there will be round the clock celebrating. But we would have to decide on a "time zone friendly" time to announce the contest winners etc., if that makes sense.

When I put that midnight deadline I was thinking it could be either GMT or EST; any time would work as long as people knew and agreed on the time beforehand. Same with the awards.
Sherry, I included the 667er special edition as one of the three collaborative projects, along with the timeline and the fic, so by the schedule I posted it would be published either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The schedule's not set in stone, though, we can move things around however people want to. I was trying to make sure there was something to do every day.

A less dormant "Dong" might notice if an active poster was posing as two different members. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Since I said I would run the collaborative fic anyway, I guess I'll pipe up now to claim that. If you want the whole thing ready for the mid-June celebration, I guess I'll start in early-to-mid-May. The nature of the project does mean that each chapter will be posted publicly before the anniversary celebrations, but I have some ideas for a true final version that wouldn't be seen until the appointed day (assuming it's completed on time). I can probably also help out on The 667er in terms of contributions, although not as an editor.

I'll volunteer to organise the 667er if no one has any objections.

And I could take care of the Wildest Speculation contest/ATWQ Prediction contest, as well as contribute to the 667er. Is the profile theme going to change daily, or will the same theme be chosen and kept all week? I was wondering if the former would be feasible, if people can't log in everyday.

Profile change every day would give everyone a chance to represent multiple people, and people who can't login everyday would be able to.

I was referring more to the theme itself, actually, than individual choices related to the theme. That is, would the first day be ASOUE character day, the next 667er impersonating day, and the next favorite author day? Or would we vote on a single theme and keep it all week, so those who can't log in frequently aren't still ASOUE characters when we've moved on to impersonating 667ers?

Oh right, well that could work too of course. The only problem I can see with favourite author day is that we might all come as Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket, unless it was pre-organised before hand.
EDIT: But we would all come as ourselves on Friday?
