Are you even allowed to sell Advanced Reader copies? I thought they were only for magazines and newspapers and such to write reviews. I don't know if you're allowed to, but if an unscrupulous reviewer wants to sell their copy, that's not much to stop them. I bought one once - it was Pratt a Manger by David Nobbs. Just found it in a shop. (Come to think of it, it was a charity shop, so the reviewer had presumably given it away.)

Golly gosh gee whiz! Why We Broke Up has had its release date brought forwards, back into 2011 again! Okay, it's only December 27th, so it's only a week's difference, but I'm pretty happy about that.

Since no-one has sent in a Buy Now and the auction is nearly over, I sent the seller a $5.00 offer. I'll see what he or she says, I'd love to have some Handler as summer reading.
UPDATE: So I just won it. I should be getting it in 5-10 days. If anyone wants to read it after me I'd be happy to mail it out (though for cost reasons, probably only in the US).

Fight the system, Sora! The system of just sitting on a book for months before publishing it, I guess. Once you've read it, would you mind posting a non-spoiler review?
Edit: Or even a spoiler review, if you like.

Just wanted to say that I got the book earlier today. Apparently it is meant to have full color art in the hardcover, but for now Moira Kaufman's B&W prints look great. Also, the book came with a nifty set of postcards with artwork and quotes from the book, so I'll see if I can upload some of those when I'm writing my review in a couple of days.

Where did you learn that information about the different editions? As far as I know, the published version will only be in hardcover - Amazon lists hardcover, hardcover large print, and audiobook, and it's hard to do pictures in audio. ...Ah, therefore maybe it's a difference between the advance copy and the real thing, so that unscrupulous purchasers of review editions like yourself have to buy it twice?

The advanced copies are always paperback, just because it's cheaper for them to print and they are (intended to be) free for the reviewers. The front of the book said all the artwork is will be in color which is great, because the work is really about the physical act of viewing memories.
Also, I totally thought this was meant to be about an adult romance. Instead, the main characters are 16 & 17.

Oh, I thought it would be an adult romance too. Especially because of the box; I thought it was a moving out kinda thing.

I always thought it was a teenage romance. Probably because that was always advertised as being the audience, young adults, and protagonists are nearly always the age of their intended readers - and also I saw Handler read a bit online somewhere, and I think that involved a high school setting.

I, too, thought of it as a teenage romance. I wonder if the parallel with Lemony/Beatrice may be leading people to think otherwise.

Are we aware of this? www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0547548109/dialost-20I personally am extremely excited to see which of the illustrations Snicket takes on. Harry Burdick inspired a lot of short stories for me as a child, and the other authors on the anthology look great.
