Today, 3rd September, is the day of the release of Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid and the rerelease of Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography with a new cover in the United Kingdom!
...Supposedly. Egmont.co.uk and UnfortunateEvents.com haven't acknowledged the existence of either book (although in the case of the latter that's not surprising, as they never announced The Beatrice Letters, either). Nonetheless, the books are orderable, and I've ordered them, but I'm unable to go to a bookstore to check if they actually exist. 667ers living on this side of the Atlantic should keep an eye out for these mysterious and hopefully real but not in any way new volumes. (Note that the publisher has acknowledged their existence in the past.)
And a quick reminder: Tomorrow, September 4th, sees the release of The Wide Window or, Disappearance!, the paperback edition of the third book in A Series of Unfortunate Events, alongside a box set of the first three paperback editions (which again occupies a mysterious half-existence limited to retailer sites, although again, sources linked to the publisher have acknowledged its existence).
Title: Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid
U.K. Release
Also Known As: Horseradish
LemonySnicket.com Page: www.lemonysnicket.com/descpage.cfm?bookid=71452&type=hardcover
Release Date (Paper-Over-Board): 3rd September 2007 (? - date uncertain)
Note: Booksellers list this book as hardback, but Egmont stated in an e-mail that it would be a paperback.
Synopsis:
Life is a turbulent journey, fraught with confusion, heartbreak, and inconvenience. This book will not help. Many collections slap together the wit and wisdom of certain authors in the hopes of inspiring a reader at a crucial time in his or her life. This book contains a bouquet of alarming but inescapable truths from the work of Lemony Snicket, along with selections from his unpublished papers and remarks he has made at dinner parties and anarchist riots, in order to remind the reader that even the loftiest of inspirations contains a sharp, bitter kernel of dread - and vice versa.
