people like the woman with the cantaloupe, who was stepmother to Aunt Jo's mother in law, and the duchess of winipeg are central to the story's aura. If others are ready for soem VFD detecting, we could scour the LS books and piece together information on these characters. start with any you like.

I'm not sure that there's much more to discover, although you'd be surprised at some of the connections you can make; you were right to make the link to Aunt Josephine's mother-in-law, for instance. I think the intent with references like these is to create a kind of cloud of interconnections, with the implication of much depth behind them, but necessarily rather insubstantial in ASoUE itself. Good luck, though! You might be able to draw the odd yet-undiscovered connection.

Quite a few are in CaP, but not all; any that have been omitted can be added, though, if people will point them out. I don't think the man with large sunglasses who calls Jerome "Jerry" is in there, for instance, even though he possibly returns in TPP.

I don't believe so, although it's worth noting that we don't know that Monday is related to Thursday.

That is true, although one can presume at least some connection between them, whether as a Red Herring from Snicket, or as an actual familial bond
