S, I own hupu, but I really don't know how to pay to watch it. Do I have to use Paypal or will any Visa/Mastercard wil do? netflix, you mean? any credit card works as far as i know, you just have to create an account and enter payment deets. edit: or better yet, get a friend who's willing to share their password Unfortunately, my mom doesn't trust Netflix and thinks it's probably owned by a hacker-please understand that we are living in a country that doesn't know anything about Netflix. Well, how much are prices to watch a series/episode? If it's less than Rp. 100 000 in conversion probably my Mom would be willing to pay. EDIT: I don't have any friend who owns a Netflix account; they watch their TV series somewhere else, possibly by downloading it somewhere.

When this comes to fruition, I'll let you use my Netflix, Tryina.

Ask [667 for something concerning access to Snicket] and ye shall receive, my friend.
(fwiw a Netflix subscription costs USD 7.99 / month, but seriously, I'm sure someone here will be willing to share / I'm sure somebody will download the series and post it elsewhere on the web / if nobody else does it I'm perfectly happy to be that somebody.)

I'll just say right now that any discussion of how to pirate copyrighted content should probably not be discussed publicly. I had a skim through the ProBoards Terms of Service and didn't see anything that specifically forbade it, but the abuse team can be rather trigger-happy.

If you live in the UK and have netflix, you'll probably want to use a proxy to access US content.

I dont have it either, but some family of mine did/does, and initially their UK version was lacking in so much US content, it literally had like 4 tv shows on it Could be different now, but still loads of my friends use proxy servers with it.

I'm happy there's a TV series, but I was hoping it would be animated instead of live-action.

If it's live action then I'm hoping John Malkovich might play Olaf.

Hey ! I haven't come on this board for ages, but I just wanted to join the excitement about these wonderful news ! Aaaah ! What a dream ! My only question is : imo, some books are less interesting than others, for instance The Miserable Mill etc ... I can really picture them doing something GOOD with volumes like The Carnivorous Carnival or the Hostile Hospital, but not really with that one, or the Vile Village ... Other (wrong) questions include : who will play the characters, how many seasons will there be, who will direct the Soundtrack ......
Do we have a date ? A year ? I might have missed it in the giddyness !

Hey, I like TMM! It has a swordfight and even a villain gets killed. Anyway, these are indeed as of now wrong questions, alexandre, as I don't even think the series is in pre-production. Handler mentioned they're still looking for a director, so presumably the rest of the crew is a long way from being hired as well. We don't have any specifics so far, but considering that Netflix has officially scheduled to produce the series, (pre-)production should begin by next year. I'd say we'll have to wait at least until Summer 2015 to get any news (at least casting-wise). The number of seasons is decided by the success of each season, so you never know exactly beforehand. On a side note, I regret not being older so I could've had the time to amount a professional filmmaking resume so I could be involved with this :[ I always imagined I could write (&maybe direct) a good screen adaptation of TVV. *sigh*

I wonder who will be cast, anyway. I think Jim Carrey did a great Count Olaf, and Sunny was precious ! So ... Curious !

I would expect the plots of all the books to take a certain amount of reworking in the transition from page to screen, so there might also end up being a greater consistency of tone - as well as, one hopes, consistency of narrative.

How do we know they won't just make 13 episodes for each book and have a one-off season?
I'm not waiting 5 million years to see only books 1-5 adapted jeez
