Also, why in the world is Dr. Orwell throwing darts at a picture of Olaf? If I had to work with him I'd want to throw darts at his face too

I'm guessing Orwell is not part of VFD but bffsy with Shirley, à la Sharon and Theodora in ATWQ. Maybe Olaf used her in the past and now is taking advantage of her using a costume?
I really love all the scenes with Shirley and Orwell side by side, they look great haha

I'm also loving that they're doing what we all hoped--really playing up the fact we're WATCHING the stories, just like the books constantly lampshaded that they were books.

It appears that the trailer is on the British Netflix now. I just typed in "Lemony Snicket" and up it came alongside the film. Awesome. ^_^ Shame I don't watch trailers, I'd have a field day. Oh, well. Not long until January, anyway.

I can't wait to see what the show's Lachrymose Leeches look like. I kind of dig that they seem to be saving them for a bit of a surprise.

Odd, the Baudelaire's left their basket at Briny Beach, stranger still is that we see it decayed on the beach. So, possibly we'll see "present" versions of some locations. Interestingly it seems that Main Street, Paltryville has burned to the ground by the time of the Baudelaire's arrival. Makes me think Olaf is responsible, could that be why Orwell is throwing darts at his picture? Perhaps she's bitter about him doing that and only makes up with him when he promises her a cut of the Baudelaire's fortune.
Interestingly the Baudelaire's wardrobe from TBB carries over into the beginning of TRR. Likewise it looks like the raincoats first appear in TWW and carry over into TMM. This makes me wonder if just the library of Aunt Josephine's house is destroyed but the rest of the house survives as Klaus wasn't wearing that raincoat in the library destruction scene we got in the last trailer. Then again on arrival to the lumber mill they have no luggage, which tends to suggest it was lost somehow. Or maybe that boat scene with Violet and Klaus isn't from TWW, the water does look pretty odd actually, almost more like fog. Perhaps it's something else entirely.
It's intriguing that the Reptile Room door looks very mechanical, perhaps a TSS reference?
The Baudelaire's have quite a few wardrobe changes. If I counted correctly, there's something like eight costume changes (at least for Violet that is, although two of those are night clothes and one is a uniform). Klaus and Sunny look to have a few less variations (can't tell for sure, Klaus seem's to mix and match various sweaters and jackets, so it's hard to separate it). It's nice that these characters are realistically changing clothing rather than wearing the exact same thing all the time. Definitely adds a bit more realism.

Oh, gosh, how on earth did I miss this! This trailer was delicious- Easily my favorite of what we've seen so far, though I can't exactly explain why. The last trailer, the big one, was gorgeous and enticing and fun, and this one's very much smaller in scope, but it's just oozing personality! I love the flat, clearly fake and stagey backdrops, I love NPH's screeching shouting Olaf, I love Sir's gruff and moronic mantra, Charle's adorkable accent, Klaus' dazed hypnotized expression, the terrifying machinery in the mill, the MARVELOUS emotional moment between the Baudelaire's, and Violet's (GOD BLESS) absolute CONVICTION and ACTION in the face of adversity. I adore Jacquelyn's absurd "gold statue" disguise, and the absurdly comical image of her trying to fit into a phone booth. Aunt Jo's enormous terrified eyes made me smile every bit as much as Stefano's ridiculous coke-bottle glasses, and I was impressed with how quickly and effortlessly that ridiculous disguise transformed into menace and malice. To put it into as little words as possible: It's delicious. Or, if you'd prefer: It's melodrama. And I couldn't possibly be happier. I'm guessing Orwell is not part of VFD but bffsy with Shirley, à la Sharon and Theodora in ATWQ. Maybe Olaf used her in the past and now is taking advantage of her using a costume? Ohhh, this is such a good idea! I hope that's the direction they go in! I think that would really beef up TMM, which is sadly lacking in the Olaf interaction department.

wow, i'm late.. Looks like they either took the trailer down or it still isn't up for me, but I saw the YouTube video and I love it! God I'm so excited, and so far I can't complain. Only I'm wondering who Jacquelin is, and I still wish Sir had smoke. The Stefano character is hilarious to me with his eyes opening all big with those glasses too hahahah, even though his voice in the interview seemed surprising but it works in the show. At the beginning of all this I was skeptical of the actress for Violet but in this trailer I think she is great. I almost want to cry, because this story is so dear to my heart, my favorite of all when I was so small.. Now I'm imagining the later books with this aesthetic and omfg..., the later books are my favorite, to be honest, these first four were my least favorite. Once they meet the Quigleys that's when it gets good.. problem is, I don't think I like who they chose for their parts. Oh well.

Yes, it seems fairly clear at this point that Netflix put the trailer up on their site early by mistake, judging from the absence of a tie-in website if nothing else; the silence of official channels on the subject would seem to indicate that they didn't just make a mistaken assumption about how much interest would be felt by people who couldn't legitimately see it. Since the trailer is clearly done, though, I dare say we'll see it go up again formally pretty soon - but not so soon that they could have just left the early version where it is, apparently.
Having to sneak around finding low-quality rips with non-English subtitles has sort of sapped the interest I would have felt in the trailer, but it did have quite a few intriguing points; I also noticed more that felt directly derived from the books, in addition to all the things that obviously weren't, like the whole business with the maze. I wonder where the maze part comes in; an additional climax to TRR, where Stephano is trying to nab the children at the very last? Or will it come in-between Monty's death and Mr. Poe's arrival? I'm looking forward to being able to watch the trailer officially to get a better idea of what's going on.
