Well arguably, whatever solution they adopt, it wouldn't have worked in the books, because even if there's an intended solution there not everything can be consistent with it. That's why I've always liked the it was empty the whole time theory. It allows for how so many people came to have so many different ideas about the nature of its contents, plus, having one of the most sought after/fought over containers of all time be empty is very Handler-esque. But there's something I've been thinking for a while: we, at 667, mostly love the open-endedness and sense of mystery of The End. But that's a survivor effect; the remaining Snicket fans think like that, because those who don't left long ago in disgust. The End was greeted with an outcry, with fierce protests about Lemony's failure to tell us what VFD stood for or what happened to the Quagmires. I can well imagine Handler not wanting to go through that again, and Sonnenfeld et al. not wanting to go through it for the first time. So I think it likely that the series will give us more definite (and easily visible) answers to a number of things. That doesn't replace the book; it's an alternative version. We must take a deep breath to prepare ourselves for it. Considering that Handler is the show's head-writer and executive producer, I'm guessing whatever answers we get (in regards to The Great Unknown, The Sugarbowl, etc...) will be exactly the sort of answers that lead to more questions. After all, that's been his M.O. for almost 20 years and I don't see any reason why he'll change it now. Plus, Barry Sonnenfeld did say in an interview that while the storyline in the show was different "the plot will end up in the same place in the end". So I don't think we need fear too much.

Well, I was thinking especially of the possible changes to the Great Unknown, which seem to make it more definitely a Beast.

We discussed this earlier. There does seem to be quite a lot of evidence that it will be a Beast. (Of course, you may think that was settled in ATWQ, though there are other ways to read it.) I'm hoping they can find a way to make it a Beast and still mysterious, but I don't think we can be confident of that.

Well, I don't think the Sugar Bowl is so surprising, given that DH has said there is an answer that people should be able to work out - whereas the Great Unknown, one might have thought, is by its very nature Unknown.

Looks like Barry Sonnenfeld has been in LA these past few days, which is interesting since he lives in Colorado, https://www.instagram.com/p/BmH429JHAvU https://www.instagram.com/p/BmH3U56nYbo it might mean nothing of course, but since that's where Netflix HQ is located, it could indicate that he was giving season 3's marketing a once-over before it begins in earnest. Afterall, let us not forget that the first pictures for season 2 were released in early December, roughly 4 months before the season was released. If season 3 is coming out in November and if they stick to a similar schedule, then we should be getting something any day now.

At the least, Entertainment Weekly usually does their Fall TV preview in the beginning of September so we should have a still with that to look forward to!

I hope we get a trailer or something this month, I'm so thirsty for just anything at this point.

I'm not sure if we'll get a trailer at this point since we are still 3-4 months from the potential November release date, however, I think it's quite likely that we'll be getting some kind of information about the new season quite soon.

This is a tentative list of everyone who we currently think may be a part of season 3's cast, listed in order of likeliness. Beth Grant (Confirmed) - The Woman With Hair But No Beard (Confirmed) Richard E. Grant (Confirmed) - The Man With A Beard But No Hair (likely, as he was only in Vancouver during filming on TSS and two days of TPP) (This photo was seen hanging in the show's makeup trailer and appears to show Grant in full makeup and costume.) Morena Baccarin (Confirmed) - Beatrice (likely as one of her IG posts showed a picture of an ASOUE script zoomed in on one of Beatrice's lines) Baya Ipatowicz (Confirmed) - Snow Scout #3 (IMDB) Matthew Dowden (Potentially) - Bertrand (IMDB) Simon Chin (Potentially) - Alonso (IMDB) Flossie McKnight (Potentially) - Submarine Rental Associate (IMDB) Gerardo Barcala (Potentially) - Doctor (IMDB)

I've also made a list of season 3's directors. These have all been confirmed from multiple outside sources including the DGC, IMDB and interviews. Jonathan Teplitzky - The Slippery Slope: Part One/The Slippery Slope: Part Two Liza Johnson - The Grim Grotto: Part One/The Grim Grotto: Part Two Barry Sonnenfeld - The Penultimate Peril: Part One/The Penultimate Peril: Part Two Bo Welch - The End

I just remembered that, technically, we already have a couple of images from Season 3, Matty Cardarople posted this photo-collage on his IG in order to celebrate season 2's release and in it, you can a couple of really clear images from TSS. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg9BrIwnb0e

All the more reason to expect some new information about season 3 to be released very soon, seeing as how it's only about 3 months away.
