That's strange - I checked a few hours ago, and I wasn't being offered anything other than the same eight or nine standard icons there usually is. But I tried again just now, just to make sure I had something valid to whine about, and suddenly I can choose icons from all sorts of different shows. Yay! Picked the one with the spyglass.

More intriguing things visible in the auction video: A set of shelving units labelled "Hotel Laundry Room" Two gargoyles, a Roman Centurion's shield, and Esmé's display stand for Spain's largest handkerchief. A collection of boxes including "Hurricane Glass Vases" for the "Rooftop Pool", cable for the "Brewers" set and an "Elephant Turbin" for the Hotel D.

The giant nose is the one beneath the "largest handkercheif of spain" isn't it? You're right, correcting that now. I still have no idea where the two gargoyles and the Roman centurion's shield will appear though. Or indeed which episode will feature a person and or company that makes beer.

Or indeed which episode will feature a person and or company that makes beer. I'm guessing TE, if the theories about TBL being worked into that episode holds up.

This isn’t strictly related to S3 but a I’m a counselor in training at a summer camp and I don’t remember how but I said “Look away, look away” and a camper mentioned to me she is NPH’s niece and she isn’t lying.

The "official" fan account released this new image of Olaf today. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bl_V-O7nRQ- Again, not actually news about season 3, but it's a very good sign to see some activity coming from an account officially affiliated with the show.

This video has a mini-interview with Sara Rue and Jim Dooley, most of what they talk about is stuff we've already heard before but-
at one point, when asked about whether he knew what was going to happen in advance, Jim Dooley says no and adds that "until I saw the last episode of our series, which was two days ago [July 17th], I did not know what was in the sugar-bowl".
(Interview starts at 38:38)

Well that is huge. I’m hoping it means the clues to figure it out are there but it isn’t explicitly shown.

(Personally, I'm hoping that it turns out to have been empty this whole time.)

A few of us got the impression from Season 2 that the show might have its own answer in mind to the sugar bowl mystery; though that wouldn't necessarily reflect back on what was intended in the books, and even if it did, it wouldn't negate any point of continuity which happened to contradict that conclusion. In short, I wouldn't be surprised if the show's internal mythology pointed to a unique conclusion which wouldn't have worked in the books. In its own way, that might be best; it would be a bit weak to make a point of leaving something mysterious in the books only to then turn around and prosaically explain it later. Although I do admit that my own opinion in the run-up to The End was that, whatever else was left open, the sugar bowl had been hyped too much to go unexplained (I wasn't necessarily wrong, either).

Well arguably, whatever solution they adopt, it wouldn't have worked in the books, because even if there's an intended solution there not everything can be consistent with it.
But there's something I've been thinking for a while: we, at 667, mostly love the open-endedness and sense of mystery of The End. But that's a survivor effect; the remaining Snicket fans think like that, because those who don't left long ago in disgust. The End was greeted with an outcry, with fierce protests about Lemony's failure to tell us what VFD stood for or what happened to the Quagmires. I can well imagine Handler not wanting to go through that again, and Sonnenfeld et al. not wanting to go through it for the first time. So I think it likely that the series will give us more definite (and easily visible) answers to a number of things. That doesn't replace the book; it's an alternative version. We must take a deep breath to prepare ourselves for it.
