I don't know if an ATWQ series is likely or not, but I don't think this interview makes it any less likely. NPH is just saying that the ASOUE series ends where the books end, because it aims to stay close to the books, which is what we always expected.

I reread and he doesn't exclude the idea, so I take that back. Personally, I hope they just adapt ASOUE and do not adapt any extra material - instead just mix it into ASOUE itself. Of course, with ATWQ, that's a different beast, but I think I'd prefer references for fans rather than a full adaptation.

I feel like this doesn't confirm or deny ATWQ. Because if they did do ATWQ Olaf wouldn't be in it anyway. The only actor that I could see returning is Patrick Warburton. As a way to link the two series together. I feel like we might get ATWQ in a couple years and probably with a different creative team. ASOUE has done pretty well for Netflix I think, so I don't see why they wouldn't want to continue it in some way.

...That's weird. It's already been cross-reported on stacks of other sites.

If it's being reported as 'the series is cancelled', presumably they want to put a stop to that.
(I've always been confused by the assumption that series ought to go on for ever, and it's a misfortune if they don't. I believe it's based on the way US series were traditionally funded; but I take it Netflix isn't subject to the same constraints.)

Usman Ally posted this on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/BeykCaWn4ua Normally I wouldn't pay this much mind but when I looked up Richard E. Grant's social media accounts, I saw that been in Vancouver the past couple of weeks filming "something" and has started following some of the cast members including Neil Patrick Harris on Twitter.

And here we have active confirmation that he's working on the show. My money's on him playing the Man With a Beard But No Hair. https://www.instagram.com/p/BeynbZIHWxz :edit: Although, he would also make for a good Captain Widdershins too.

This is very exciting news! I was thinking just the other day that I hadn't seen him in anything for a while, and I very much admire his acting.
I don't really know whom I'd prefer him to play -- The Man With A Beard But No Hair or Captain Widdershins (if those are the options. There might always be a new character or something.).

He would make such a great Widdershins! But I can totally see him with a wonderful aura of menace as the MWABBNH ... Can he just play both? Both would be good.

Maybe he’s just plainly Bruce... but it would be weird, since he’s quite a big actor for such a small role.

If there's one thing we can be pretty certain of, it's that he's not playing Bruce. -Excerpt from a live stream Daniel handler did in April of last year.- (I did a transcript of Daniel Handler’s livestream for those who don't have time for a video or do not have facebook - though only of questions pertinent to ASOUE, the movie, the netflix show, or ATWQ, due to my own busy schedule’s time constraints.)Aleksandra asks “Who is the best Series of Unfortunate Events character, in your opinion, and why is it Count Olaf?” I always enjoyed Bruce, who sadly is not in the latest Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Bruce was a character always dear to my heart. :Edit: It has been suggested by some on this forum, that the role of Bruce as head of the Snow Scouts will instead be replaced with Mr. Remora and Mrs. Bass and that they (along with the snow scouts) will appear in season 2's finale and carry over to season 3. This is due to both of their actors being credited as appearing the second part of the Carnivorous Carnival on IMDB along with the fact that Kitana Turnbull (Carmelita Spats) went back up to Vancouver at the same the Carnivorous Carnival was filming.

That's a very interesting theory, but I wonder if it doesn't potentially compromise Mrs. Bass's bank robbery subplot.
