It seems appropriate to me that the first award to be presented should be one of some particular distinction. Now, obviously every award in this show is distinguished, but what I mean is that the show is best kicked off with something remarkable, something that stands out from its duodenary breth- and sistren. Something Special.
Welcome to the Darkies Special Category 2018.
This year's special category is awarded for showing an excellent effort in keeping the rest of us up to date on news, rumours and factoids about the development of the ASOUE Netflix series. The category came out on top of such other suggestions as ”Most likely to be Trip from the future” and ”Best new name for these awards”. Both of these are obviously issues we, as a community, will eventually have to deal with, but I think it's a good thing that we use this chance, which increasingly seems to be our last (I'm referring here to the end of the Netflix series, not the end of the world – the difference is small, but many consider it significant), to celebrate someone who has put in this particular kind of effort during this exciting time to be a Snicket fan.
These people have shown effort in stalking various social, and often less social, media platforms, even in places where I would personally never have thought to look. This is something which I believe many of us appreciate more greatly than we've previously expressed (I know I do). So on behalf of everyone who feels I'm currently speaking on their behalf, I'm extending a big thank you to all of our nominees:
We at 667 are fans, not only of a book series, but of a book series about the importance of literature, and so it's right that creative writing should form an important part of our activities. In truth, there hasn't been that much writing here during the last year, owing to there being only about three regular posters left, but we honour those who have kept this tradition alive.
Lemona and Trip contributed literary speeches at last year's awards. (How many people, actually, did live in that apartment? But anyway.)
Comet wrote the title songs for the third season of ASOUE on Netflix. Whether these will actually be used in the show is yet to be seen.
LSWannabe wrote a fanfic in classic style, dedicated to one of our favourite ASOUE couples, Sir and Charles.
Bear heroically wrote a long poem about the trial of Lemony Snicket, which must exceed in length al the other creative works posted here this year put together. Read it and judge, if you have not already done so. At the end
LS comes to join us at 667. This does not seem to have happened yet, but we look forward to it.
But the trophy this year goes to Linda Rhaldeen for 'The Olaf Tango'. This belonged to her usual genre, musical theatre, but was a rare venture into Snicketfic by someone better known for 667fic. This is the third time she has won this award. We'll have many opportunities to remember her during this ceremony, but right now let's recall her contribution as a writer, and be inspired by it.
And the award goes to... ... ... ... ...Zortegus for organizing Linda's memorial and the Allan Arkush interview! Thank you Zortegus for organizing that interview, and honoring our beloved Linda. Congratulations! Now I'll leave your account so you can enjoy your award. Terry made it, so be thankful!

'The world, no matter how monstrously it may be threatened, has never been known to succumb entirely.' - A Series of Unfortunate Events
First off, the special award - ryan and gpthic (is that a thing) are the only people to have any votes in this category, and they won with a combined totla of 100% of the votes - something to have never happened in the darkies before. congrats!
Best Writing - This is the third consecutive win for Linda, and the most times anyone has won this award behind willis. This is the biggest win percentage for this award though, with 62.50% of the vote.
Best Organiser - Everybody got at leats one vote here. Me and Anka have now been nominated the most times for this award (6). Anka now shares the position of most overall votes with Linda (21), whilst Zortegus leaps into third place with 14. Zortegus is a newbie to winning this award.

jokes. we all tell em. most of us range from very bad at it to ok, but some people are gifted. masterful. just plain funniest.
most comedians that skilled get money or a lot of twitter followers, but our internet funnymen at 667 dark avenue get none of that and something much better: a banner someone made in ms paint to display on their profile and feel smug about for a year.
our nominees? comet, the red-haired one. zortegus, who definitely rigged this whole show. bsam, the veteran winner of i didn't look up the stats but several times. hermes, i started this list and i really don't have a tagline for everyone. charlie, i'm just winging this speech i didn't know charlie was on here congrats. pepper, the infant. bear, who is here on the list. terry craig, also here i guess.
i forgot the amount of votes everyone had but it was all very close.
i just realized y'all are all guys should we manufacture a scandal about sexism in lemony snicket forum comedy? i don't have the energy or time someone please make an impassioned speech about this.
anyway without further delay, it's my delight to surprise absolutely no one and announce that the winner of this year's Funniest Member is...
as winner of Best New Member 2017, it is my legal obligation to take time out of my busy admin lifestyle to pass on the mantle to some even greener 667er who, just frankly speaking, will probably never get on my level, legacy-wise. that's fine. we can't all be endearing powerful heroines.
if this award was called Newest Member, it would go to lestrangequagmiregirl, who registered 14 hours ago. if it was called Best Member it would go to... probably sophie? sophie? i think we all decided it was sophie. but it's not about who's the literal newest member, or widely-speaking the best, it's about who showed up on our doorstep within the past year and made the biggest impact on our forum as a whole.
if you're on the following list: congratulations! in a year with so many new members i stopped checking my notifications, on a forum with a legacy old enough to drive, you made a place for yourself. that's a very impressive thing to do at all, let alone in less than a year. i hope you've had a good time so far on 667 dark avenue, and i hope you stick around. i especially hope the winner sticks around so we don't have to scramble for a substitute presenter next year.
congratulations to everyone who has won so far, good luck to everyone still in the running for their category/ies, great job to anka and zort for their work on the words, thanks mr m for the interesting stats updates and everyone making banners and presenting awards, ickle you all for only nominating mona for one thing. good night, good weekend, happy father's day?

Congratulations to everyone! But, erm, sorry to interrupt, but I'm confused on one point: when do the banners come in, exactly? I would have assumed they were "distributed" to the winners as it went, like Oscar statues, but… apparently not…?

This year, I am honoured to be presenting an award for the first time ever during my time at 667 Dark Avenue. The award I am presenting is a fascinating one, because the title gives it a somewhat sinister edge. Most awards are clearly intended as good things, a positive comment about some specific attribute supposedly possessed by the winner and nominees. But not this award. This award makes me think that perhaps I wouldn't want to play cards with the nominees, or that, if I were on a boat with said people, I ought never to turn my back to them.
Yes, that's right: I am presenting Most Notorious.
This year, only two members were judged worthy of nominations in this category. One of those members, Tragedy , had to be nominated twice, as, in an act of cunning more than worthy of this award, the other nominee (klausfan1 ) retracted his nomination of Zortegus in order to give himself a clear shot at victory. Unfortunately for Bear, Tragedy renominated Zortegus, leaving the rest of us in fairly mild suspense as we (sort of) wondered which of them would win ...
