As usual, the rest of this ceremony seems to have been lost. I surmise there's an ongoing in-joke there that I am not privy to…?

Just that it always happens that at least one award-presenter doesn't turn up, so we are never sure when the ceremony will end. Pepper's piece in Bandit's magazine mentions this. This year, it seems we are still waiting for Compassionate, and the special award for Linda. I'm guessing the special award for Linda is being held back to the end, so it's the presenter of Compassionate who has gone missing.

Having been rescued from a basement in Texas, I am pleased to announce that the Most Compassionate nominees have held their compassion in the face of compelled anticipation! - Bear and Quisby come in joint 4th place - Comet wins 3rd place - Hermes wins 2nd place - So in joint 1st place are:

(Just popping in to inform our rightful nominees — as, this being their gift banner, they are entitled to know all about it — that the book Bowtie Stickman is reading is none other than The Pony Party; which, as I failed to anticipate, may be somewhat hard to decipher in the small size required for banners. Anyway, congratulations everyone! Again!)

Congrats Violet and Zortegus!
(Once the name Violet was associated with notoriety, but now it has very definitely been redeemed.)

Goodness, thank you so much for this! I absolutely didn't expect to win, so this was incredibly nice to come online to. And congratulations to Zortegus! It's a pleasure to share this award with you. ^_^

Oh and also -- thank you so much for the lovely banner, Uncle Algernon! There's no better book for the little stickman to be reading than The Pony Party.

Is the special award for Linda yet to come? I mean, we could just take it as read that this has been awarded, but I think it would be better to have speech for it.

Yes. I'll close the ceremony in a few hours. I was hoping other people would mention her, but that didn't happen.
In case anyone else wants to give some speech or something like that, now it's the time!

Originally I wanted to finish this ceremony as I did last year, by taking a moment to talk about those who left the forum for unknown reasons; but considering this year we have a person who, sadly, will never be able to come back to the forum, I'd like to focus one more time exclusively on Linda Rhaldeen. I'm gonna use some of the useful information provided by Mister M: Linda won 5 Darkies in the past (Most Compassionate 2008, Best Organizer 2013, Best Organizer 2014, Best Writing 2016, Best Writing 2017) and to those we have to add Best Writing 2018 and Best Pairing 2018, getting 92 votes in total. But reality is, Linda could and should have won at least one of each regular category of Darkies: -Most Compassionate: She was kind and accepting with absolutely everyone, even with those she didn't like much. She knew well how rejection felt, and made sure no one felt that way when she was around.
-Funniest Member: She had a unique and really special sense of humor. Linda could insult you and you'd still laugh. -Best New Member: Any doubt she was one of the best new members of her year? How many others lasted as long here as she did? -Most Notorious: She could be really notorious when she wanted to. I'm still laughing at her twisted plans to donut Bear up for attempting against our game. -Best Organizer: She got it twice and it was well deserved; her passion organizing stuff was well known for most of us, even in some secret ways! -Best Pairing: I still don't understand how she didn't win this award with Pandora. I'm proud and honored to have won it with her now! -Best Profile Decoration: She definitely should have win this award for constancy, and also for using the "Member of the Moth" I made for her -Best Thread: She had so many we wouldn't be able to make a list. -Most Valued Poster: No doubt she was one of our most valued posters EVER, and the inactivity hole left with her absence shows it. -Best Volunteer: She was an incredibly important part of this forum. Without her, I'm sure we wouldn't be here now; I, for sure, probably wouldn't. Her friendly ways and passion for Big Brother made me stay back then, and her constant presence was also a huge influence for me. -Best (Creative) Writing: This was her category for excellence. Her fanfics, reversions and original stories were unique, and luckily she had an immense production to leave behind and keep us laughing for a long time.
We miss Linda every day, especially in regular activities like this one where she'd be so excited and involved. We'll probably never stop missing her, especially those of us who were close to her in real life, but it's undeniable that her presence and her legacy will accompany us for as long as this forum lives, and I'd like to think that also for as long as WE live.
Maybe a bit too self-referential, but I wanted to share this pic of Linda and I from last year since I didn't share it in the memorial thread:

Sorry for my late reply everyone, but I've never participated in one of these before so I wasn't sure quite how/when to respond. I want to thank everyone on this website for making it the single best forum I have ever been lucky enough to be a part of. I also want to congratulate BSam , jim , Violent BUN Fortuna , ryantrimble457 , bandit , and especially Geru Tosz / Linda Rhaldeen ! And offer thanks to Uncle Algernon for his terrific art and You Look Lost for his incredibly helpful stats collating.
