Congratulations to everyone! But, erm, sorry to interrupt, but I'm confused on one point: when do the banners come in, exactly? I would have assumed they were "distributed" to the winners as it went, like Oscar statues, but… apparently not…? I suppose it doesn't necessarily work the same way every year, but if I remember correctly, the organisers just PM you the banner ASAP. Congratulations to Zortegus, BSam, gothicarchiesfan and, of course, to Linda! This is another reminder of the big impact she had on this forum. Oh, there's been another presentation while I posted this. Also congratulations to bear! |

Funniest Member - BSam winds this award by just three votes, representative of a pretty close category. This is BSam's 8th win, and the first since 2014. This is also BSams 13th Darkie.
Best New Member - Everybody got a vote in this category.
Most Notorious - Bandit is the first person ever to win Most Notorious more than once. This win shoots bandit up into 7th place in the overall rankings.

BSam for being funniest. (I'm rather sad that Linda never won this award. She could be very funny sometimes - see her brilliant 'Dogs' thread for instance. But Sam is a very worthy winner.)

This year I was honored to present the Most Valued Poster award, which has been renamed the Linda Award in memory of our beloved Linda Rhaldeen. This award encompasses everything that could make one a valuable member of this community, and our nominees certainly show that. Here they are. -Zortegus -Planned these very awards, worked hard on that getting Linda in the Netflix project, has Matty C's phone number -beatricetriptych - our wonderful admin, humors me when i want to talk about sad singers -Bear - he does what he likes -Pepper - a fun young lad who keeps a lot of the wicked world posts going with his fresh opinions -Quisby -i had an alliance with him in big brother, although technically that was most people -gothicarchiesfan - i like the gothic archies too, i dont really look at the netflix threads but I think you must do a lot there -Dante -keeps the actually important sections going for like 15 years -Comet - he's a fun guy who seems to be active everywhere -Hermes - Still makes birthday threads for everybody, our ever present father figure, Age: Indeterminate (prematurely aged by a life of villainy) -Antenora - if you dont notice the Detriment Deleter, that means they're doing a great job. All worthy of this award, no doubt. But only one can win it, unless there's a tie, which there isn't. And so it comes to pass that I must make a presentation for Best Thread. As I'm a boring statstic nerd, I'm going to talk about stats as a way of presenting this award.
First of all, five threads didn't manage to notch up a single vote, which is bucking the trend of this years darkies. So Far, almost everyone or eveyrhtign has gotten a vote. The five threads with no votes are The Raddest Book Covers, Good Ass Shots, Rather Nice Album Art (aLL BY Bandit), Veggie Straws (By Mr. Dent), and, rather shockingly (I feel), Monthly Bill, by Terry Craig.
Pairings you used to ship but not anymore, By Seymour Glass, and Peppers 'Things you like with terrible fans' both got 1 vote each.
Sophie's Purity Test and donut or done it, two similarly themed threads, take third and second place, with 3 and 4 votes apeice. This marks sophies 3rd time as runner up, and makes her the most nominated for best thread, 11 times.
The Winner with 6 votes, however, is RyanTrimbes Netflix Season 3 Production thread. which make him only the second repeat winner of this award. The Netflix production thread for series 1 won back in 2916, so is this technically a second win for Netflix?. This is, however, Ryans fifth Darkie
In another fun statstic, this is the second year in a row i've presented this award!

Congrats Zortegus! Your efforts to become Most Notorious do not seem very successful. Seriously, though, you've made a very important contribution this year, and you of all people deserve to be the first winner of the Linda Award.
Congrats also Ryan and Netflix! Ypur threads seem to be where most of the life of the board takes place nowadays, so it's only fair that they should be honoured in this way.

Thanks everyone for voting for me and for being so good at presenting the awards and stuff. Now it's my turn, and I'll present the Best Profile Decoration award. This year we only got three guys nominated (again, no women on this category. Misogyny, anyone? Anyway, Cracky McTeague build a profile that was really artistic and conceptual this year. He used beautiful pictures taken by talented photographers, and that's why 2 users voted for him. Catmet, on the other hand, kept his profile on brand and continued the witty combination of username/signature/avatar, being fresh, original and fun. Sadly, the 3 votes he got were not enough to get the award... ...award that Reba rightfully won with 5 votes! His consistency, effort and delightful use of photography and pun names makes him a suitable winner of this award. Congratulations, beartato! |

Congarats to all the winners so far! (yes, I read through the speeches, no, I'm not gonna congarat everyone individually.) Apart from Best Profile Decoration, which I wanted to win, I'd say all winners are super deserving; I would have or actually did easily vote for each winner so far.
And thanks for the stats, mr M, I actually find them p nifty.

2018 is shaping up to be bandits year huh. 3rd win for best profile decoration. Bandit also leaps into having the most votes overall for this award. Nice profile I guess? Bandit also has a record 7 darkies, the most of any member who has joined this decade.
Also, first time pen was not nominated for this award.

zortnegus wants me to present best pairing. we all know who made the worst pairing, it's him for pairing my superb presentation skills with this obscure award.
the only pair with 0 votes is Comet and Quisby, and it's no wonder because they're so boring that my mouth makes a '0' shape every time i read their posts (yawning).
three pairs only got 1 vote each: Comet and Mister M, for their shared ugly profiles; Pepper and Sophie, for their shared but admittedly dissimilar greatness; and me and quisby, apparently for the enmity between us, but actually we are the most wholesome of friends.
dante and hermes got 2 votes, and there's two of them, just saying.
trip and zortegus came in second place with 3 votes, and i can't say anything snarky about the winning pair, so i'm going to have to discharge all my remaining ammo right here: trip's ability to wield admin power is so utterly deflated that she couldn't even muster the effort to rig the poll for a win; on the other hand, perhaps it was intentional to avoid the humiliation of sharing an award with as corny a dork as snoretegus.
anyway, the honored pairing tonight is Zort and Linda. we always knew them as a powerful team with shared interests and passion for 667, but i think a lot of us did not realize the true extent of their care for each other until Linda passed. since then zort has worked harder than any of us to celebrate and preserve linda's legacy, but this award is an opportunity for us to focus on another legacy which they crafted together: that of a great friendship. hats off to tomasi and megan's many exploits over the years :-)
