Everyone says that Ms.K is really Kit Snicket...
But she doesn't look pregnant in the photo from Prufrock Prep.
The photo I'm talking about is the school photo from the Unauthorized Autobiography (page 142). And it also says in Nero's letter (to Mr. and Mrs. Spats, on page 129) that Ms.K gave the kids ASOUE on her list of must read books, and Nero also mentions that Coach Genghis/Olaf is gone. So this picture was definitely taken after the Baudelaire fire.
But why isn't she pregnant with Beatrice...? Since Coach Genghis/Olaf is gone, then this picture must also have been taken after Book 5. After looking at timelines for the series (people helped me with that on here, and thanks for that BTW), it seems most likely that only a few months passed between Book 5 - Book 12. So since Kit gave birth right after Book 12 ended, then she must've been at least 6-7 months pregnant when she was Ms.K at Prufrock Prep...
Does anyone have any ideas for this?

I already said that, but I need to repeat ... You really, really should read my texts ... At the moment, my most recent theory on the subject is called, Miss K Enigma 2.0
So for you to understand how I, you and a lot of people was fooled by that picture, I will summarize. (Summing up is something I don't usually do, so consider yourself someone special because I consider you similar to me in part.)
The woman in the picture is not Miss K.
I thought this woman was Miss K. But now, I realized something important. Nero states that this photo was taken after the resignation of Miss K of Prufrock Prep. So this woman is not pretending to be the teacher. Just think of the answer to the question: "Why do these children have nothing better to do than sit outside and stare glumly at the camera?" The answer is "Because there are no teachers available, since the PE instructor has gone, Remora has retired, Bass is busy sorting out bank issues, and Miss K has been fired."The woman in the picture was pretending to be one of the students, not one of the teachers. And please, don't use real-world look at this conclusion. Trying to look with the real world look in all cases in ASOUE is what leads to confusion.
Regarding what many fans think about Kit to be the only K quoted in the books … That’s not true. On page 36 and 37 of the UA, it is quoted that a certain person named K. At the time of the VFD meeting, recorded in chapter 3 of the UA, that K is called neophyte. However, this meeting took place after the cancellation of Lemony’s marriage. We know this, because it is recorded in the meeting that G had already begun to publish the column called “Secret Organizations You Shoud Know About.” According to the newspapers filed in Chapter 5, this column only came into existence following the resignation of Lemony from the Daily Punctilio. At that time Kit was no longer a neophyte. In fact, Kit is older than Lemony. And Kit had already been supporting VFD since childhood. So the person named K, who is called a neophyte at the meeting, is not Kit. This person could be the one who visited Prufrock Prep many years later, and passed himself a teacher. She could use the initial of her name without problems.
Also, the real Miss K, not the woman in the picture, was in Prufrock Prep for a very specific VFD mission. She was recruiting new members of VFD, and managed to recruit two orphans. To realize this, simply compare her actions with the VFD VFD questions on LSTUA.

There is Jean's theory, and there are also some outliers who simply don't look pregnant until the very end of pregnancy.

There is Jean's theory, and there are also some outliers who simply don't look pregnant until the very end of pregnancy. Or...Maybe Kit Snicket was sent to Prufrock Prep to investigate everything right after Coach Genghis/Olaf left? After all, this would be the first instance where Olaf involved himself with other orphans (kidnapping the Quagmires). So Kit was sent there to find any evidence she could, so VFD could find out where Olaf took the Quagmires. If Kit was there only a few days after Olaf left...she might only have been 2-3 months pregnant, which may not have been enough to show in pictures yet.

But in this case you need to disregard what Lemony said in TRR, that he himself was writing Baudelaire history years after the events. For Miss K took one of ASOUE's books to Prufrock Prep. Also, you need to disregard what Lemony wrote in TAA, that Prufrock Prep was closed for many years when Lemony was writing TAA. And you need to disregard Nero's point that the photo was taken after Miss K's resignation. Disregarding all this, the woman in the photo is Miss K, and Miss K is Kit. I just think that conclusion doesn't make any sense .

The photographs in the U.A. are, as I understand it, genuine archive photographs repurposed to serve roles in the narrative where the author found them to be sufficiently inspiring; and I think the author would have been lucky to find a photograph like the one employed in which there also happened to be a specifically pregnant woman. It's also likely to me that Handler hadn't yet conceived of the plot point that Kit was pregnant; some three years interceded between the publications of the U.A. and TPP.

I'm not sure about that - there was draft movie script which featured a pregnant volunteer: when was that written? And DH said that he always had the end of the series planned, though not all the bits in between, which might well be taken to imply a baby.
But the point that this is an archive photo is certainly right - and we know that in other places the photos don't perfectly fit what we read - e.g. the Prospero is a sailing ship in drawings, both in TUA and in TRR, but a steam ship in the photos.
Jeanlucio's theory should be right - Nero does indeed say that the children were left looking at the camera after Ms K. left. It had not struck me that the woman might be a student - I thought she might be a matron or something like that, but in any case not a teacher. But then what are we to make of Lemony's 'Will I ever see her again?'. He may himself be confused, I suppose, looking at this archive photo and thinking 'I guess that's meant to be my sister'.
Foxy's theory is very plausible - note that in TPP K. has 'a slight but definite curve', though about a week later we read of 'her belly, full and round from her pregnancy'.

Hermes! You are completely right !!! The idea of the woman in the picture being a student is simply ridiculous, although ridiculous things happen. Like you said there are other adult people in Prufrock Prep, and I already know what a woman's profession is. The first adult in Prufrock Prep is Nero. The second is a librarian. However the librarian is male. But the third adult person has been invisible all these years so far: It's Nero's New Secretary! With Sunny leaving Prufrock Prep, Nero needs a new woman to work as a secretary. And if you consider my theory about Beatrice letters As true, you will find that Beatrice, the Baudelaire mother, took secretarial classes and then went to Prufrock Prep. Back at Prufrock Prep, Beatrice gave the deputy director a false name. So it all fits together.
