As in their parents are not their biological parents. What if VFD took the Baudelaire and Quagmire kids as babies, and put them with parents/guardians? I know Violet and Klaus were there to see Beatrice pregnant with Sunny, but there is a VFD pregnant woman disguise...
I was thinking, what if the Baudelaire and Quagmire parents don't have tattoos (since their children know nothing about VFD and the Baudelaires think Olaf is the only person with a eye tattoo for awhile) because they're only temporary guardians for the kids?
So the parents died in the mansion fires, only metaphorically. They survived, and they can't have the identities of Baudelaire and Quagmire anymore.
I thought it was odd how everyone has a fortune, and how they all die the same way. What if it's all staged?
Plus, it's really really odd that there are so many triplets throughout the series. What if they're triplets not by chance, but because they were taken at birth? And VFD just prefers having triplets for some reason...

Well, there is the time where Snicket has people pretending to be his parents in ?1, but he knew those weren't his really parents. I think it was in TE when Snicket wrote about Beatrice and Bertrand dancing while she was pregnant with Sunny, and I'm trying to remember if Sunny remembered that or not... babies can feel when you dance from inside the womb.

I have thought of it in the past, but I have completely dismissed that hypothesis. There is undeniable proof that Beatrice is the biological mother of the three Baudelaire siblings: peppermint allergy. TBL makes it clear that Beatrice has the same allergy as her three children.

Fourteen years doesn't sound very temporary. Or we're looking at a pretty selective clique, who have been written to all fit certain patterns for a formula-heavy series. Two sets of triplets isn't all that many, though I accept that it's more than there are twins.

Dante .. You have not even commented on my wise observation based solely on the canonical text ... Nevertheless, re-analyzing Lemony's letter of "R", I realized that some babies and young children actually get temporary VFD tutors after the Great Schism. But there is no evidence that this happened to the three Baudelaires..
