JS, Sugar Bowl, Hotel D and Taxi Driver Theory

Talking to some volunteers, I realized that some believe that the real sugar bowl arrived at Hotel D just moments before the taxi driver left the place with the mysterious woman in the trunk. The reason they believe this is because Lemony claims that the item next to the taxi driver was wet. This makes these people believe that the sugar bowl had just come out of the seawater, and that the swimming woman had just arrived in the hotel area. But an important detail is the expression used by Lemony.

TPP chapter 10: " the small item that sat on the passenger seat, still damp from its hiding place"

That means that item was wet because of where it was hidden. If that item was hidden somewhere, it means that the item was purposely placed in a specific wet location. Let's consider the item is the sugar bowl. When the sugar bowl was thrown from VFD headquarters, it was not hidden in GG. The sugar bowl went to GG because of forces of nature such as the water cycle. Claiming that the item was hidden somewhere, gives the idea that such an item reached someone's hands in the hotel, and then someone hid the item in a damp place, the item was hidden there for some time, and then the item was taken from there. Similarly, the replica of the sugar bowl that reached the hotel through the crows was not hidden in the body of water either. Apparently the sugar bowl replica fell into that body of water accidentally.

All of this seems to support my theory that JS already had the real SB when she asked for sugar at Hotel D. However, I no longer believe in the possibility that the swimmer and JS were the same person. The woman swimmer must have given JS the real sugar bowl. The swimmer was certainly not Beatrice, for at this moment Beatrice would never leave her children in the cave. She would do anything to protect them, even if she had to pretend to be someone else. On the other hand, the swimmer woman while at GG got the real SB, and maybe got some of the deadly fungus. And maybe that's why one of the managers talking to Hal at hotel D said some mushrooms were available. JS, who received as much MM as SB could make everyone in the hotel eat crows (die).
This may seem a bit morbid, but it's good to remember that Gregor wanted it just when Fiona was a baby. Gregor wanted to kill the enemies using the MM. Gregor caused one of the VFD Schisms. Gregor wanted to fight fire with fire in reaction to the fact that Olaf was acting violently. JS was just leading a return to Gregor's plan. And so Kit had to be left out of the real plan. She would never agree with that.

You're so very close to the truth, Jean Lucio, but you do just have to complicate it. It's important to remember that even the truth that seems obvious now was the result of considerable research and thought back in the publication era. If you approach ASoUE now, that canon truth has been laid out before you like a red carpet by the efforts of volunteers past, so perhaps it's natural that some people think they still have to take the hard road, confusing the work having been done for them with there still being work to do.

In any case, it's not unusual in English for the verb "hide" to be used in relation to natural forces; something hidden doesn't require an intelligent hider. However, it's important to remember that the sugar bowl, when it fell in the lake, was in effect hidden by a human - Dewey Denouement. He anticipated the route which his enemies planned for the sugar bowl to take, and took pains to mislead people into believing that the sugar bowl would end up in the laundry room, when in fact it was destined to fall elsewhere. He didn't hide the bowl in person, but in hiding the truth about its location, it became hidden.

Well, whatever I think there is enough evidence to believe that there were two SBs being used in the fragmented plan going on at Hotel D. If you stop to think, you will find that there are many similarities in the fragmented plan of ATWQ and the plan in hotel D. Using replicas of library books is similar to using an SB replica. The real SG went to GG, a mysterious woman took the SB and took it to the Q submarine. And then left there along with Captain W. Originally the SB should be delivered to JS at the VFD HQ. But the SB had to be thrown through the window. The plan involved delivering the real SB to the hotel by Thursday. Parallel to this, JS invited several people to Hotel D. A trial was arranged at Hotel D.

My go-to example on this is always RAB. At the end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, we discover that a mysterious figure called RAB had frustrated Vodemort's designs many years before. Within a few hours of the book appearing, fans had identified a likely candidate to be RAB: Regulus Black, Sirius' brother, killed in the previous war. But shortly after that, other fans were saying RAB couldn't be Regulus, because that was too obvious. Regulus had been mentioned in passing something like three times. The average casual reader didn't remember that he existed. Yet for obsessive fans, he was too obvious. And Snicket fans are likewise too ready to look at the answer they have been given and say 'That's too obvious. What's the real answer?'.

(Of course, with Snicket there's the added complication that the intended answer doesn't always work perfectly, because DH is not very accurate on timelines and things, so what are in fact just slips get interpreted as clues to the deeper truth. There's some of that in Rowling as well, but to a much lesser extent.)

I have no problem with obvious answers. Actually I stand for the obvious answers. It is obvious to me that Lemony was wrong or lied about Beatrice's death, because it is obvious that he is a character, and characters can obviously be mistaken. It is obvious to me that the Masked Ball in which Lemony was arrested happened after the publication of some of ASOUE's books, because obviously this Ball happened after Book 2 was published. It is obvious to me that book 2 was published years after the events recorded in them, because Lemony obviously wrote this in the text. So obviously Beatrice survived for several years after the fire of her house. Beatrice was still alive when Olaf died. Lemony obviously says that he tried to pass on information to Beatrice at that particular Masked Ball, the only day in Lemony's life that he wore a bullfighter's outfit. Obviously, the only information about Count Olaf that would still be relevant was "Count Olaf is dead." Obviously, the masquerade took place at least 15 years after Olaf's death. Obviously, after this ball Lemony spent years presumably dead. This is obvious from R's letter to Lemony in LSTUA. R obviously saw the arrival of the Book 4 manuscript, because obviously a black car containing gum wrappers parked at Orion's observatory was overrun by someone, just as Lemony wrote would happen in the letter to the editor at the end of Book 3. It is too obvious that these events refer to the same event. This indicates, of course, that between the publication of Book 3 and 4 several years passed, as obviously Lemony was presumably dead. To me all this is very obvious ... But still 99.99% of fans disagree with me. Most prefer to believe in non-obvious explanations ... So Hermes , believing in non-obvious things is already common for ASOUE fans. Even for those who think they believe the most obvious answers.

When I say that Hotel D's fragmented plan was not obvious, I am just attesting a fact. A fragmented plan by definition is not obvious. The people who are part of the plan do not have all the information, let alone those who are the target of the plan.
