The suggestion that Count Olaf — nay, Netflix!Olaf at that — could possibly be construed as a socialist strikes me as more than a little ludicrous. Also, “A ruse is an action intended to deceive someone”? Clearly that should be “ruse — a word which here means an action intended to deceive someone”, worked into the main sentence… Did this get lost in editing, or are we simply dealing with a Netflix viewer with some recollection of the Snicket writing style, but who couldn't be bothered to go and chekc before writing their pastiche?
…But oh, I'm being very harsh on this amusing little thing.

Furthermore, everyone knows that Count Olaf currently lives in my country.

It's not the greatest imitation of Snicket's style, and as a political satire it's hard not to look at it and conclude that the actual political message is somewhat confused; are we poking fun at Sanders-Olaf, or the billionaire Baudelaires? And it's hardly a timely reference. But the riff on "Feel the Bern" feels at home with the Netflix incarnation of Olaf; and I have always felt that there was a gap in the fanfiction market for a fic where Olaf disguises himself as a politician as part of some complicated scheme to gain guardianship over the Baudelaires. Perhaps by a change in the law? This seems like the sort of roundabout scheme he would undertake, without realising that his false persona was far more successful and influential than he could hope to be under his own name.

If Olaf ever did try to run for president, he would most likely come with his own character name. Something literally related like President Turtledove or President Lewis Sinclair maybe.

This is pretty funny. It kind of sounds like a frantic Republican ASOUE fan making a wild excuse to not vote for a Democratic candidate.
