Thought I had better signal-boost this, since the storyteller is trying to avoid our questions!

Was the ice weapon something designed to be a weapon? Was it used to stab the victim directly (as in, as opposed to being fired from a distance)? Was it originally an icicle? Did this occur in a naturally cold area? We're getting somewhere in this particular aspect of the case, so it's reasonable to focus it down. Need to review the evidence a bit more before returning to the library science aspect. 1) Well, that depends on how you look at it. 2) It certainly was. 3) No. 4) It did indeed.

Alright. It's been a little while, so let's marshal our information. A woman has been found dead with a stab wound from a mysterious object through her heart, in the middle of what most maps describe as a large forest but is now a totally empty plain. The reason for her death and the disappearance of both the forest and the murder weapon both date back to an accidental misuse of library science from several years ago. What do you think happened? Based on gothicarchiesfan's answers since: The death was murder by a stab wound to the heart, with an impromptu weapon made from ice and taken from an ice sculpture. The body was never moved. The forest burnt down after the murder but its destruction was linked to the murder; a living person was directly responsible for this, but that person was not the murderer, though the murderer was counting on the fire's subsequent presence. Additionally, the victim's body shows no signs of being burnt (though it was not itself encased in ice), and the murder weapon was already gone by the time the forest burnt down. All this took place in a generally cold area. The victim was technically a member of V.F.D. but had never received full training, leading her to make a terrible misuse of library science linked to the current state of the murder scene; the mistake took place in an archive the victim had visited some years previously. The victim's death came as a complete surprise as she believed herself to be among friends. There was a library close to the crime scene, but the victim had not recently left that location and did not work there. The murderer, however, worked in a library. There was only one murderer, but they did not mistakenly believe the victim to be an enemy. The victim was not on a V.F.D. mission and nor had she infiltrated an opposing group; in fact the killers were members of V.F.D. So, questions based on this, or which I think are unclear or haven't been asked yet: First of all, is the above all correct? Was the fire started before the murder? Did the victim start the fire? Was the murder an act of revenge for the victim's mistake in the archive? Is the archive still intact? Was the library near the crime scene the one where the murderer worked? For that matter, was there only one murderer or a conspiracy of several people? Was the library destroyed in the fire? Was the victim's body buried?

So was Dante right? I see GAF liked his post but didn't respond to any of his questions.

What I posted above wasn't even intended to be an "answer", per se; merely a summary of the information already given, for catch-up purposes.

1) I'm not quite sure what you mean by this, it had nothing to do with a meal, but everything to do with the party the meal take place during. 2) It was not. 3) No, it was too small to hold anyone inside and would have made a very poor hiding place even if it could, as it was almost completely see-through. 4) Nobody was. 5) No it was not. 6) Yes it was, but maybe not in the way you are thinking. 7) In a manner of speaking, I suppose. 8) It certainly was, though the fire had little do with the actual murder itself and would have happened regardless.

First of all, is the above all correct? Was the fire started before the murder? Did the victim start the fire? Was the murder an act of revenge for the victim's mistake in the archive? Is the archive still intact? Was the library near the crime scene the one where the murderer worked? For that matter, was there only one murderer or a conspiracy of several people? Was the library destroyed in the fire? Was the victim's body buried? 1) You are absolutely correct on nearly every point , but it should be noted that both the woman and her murderer were in V.F.D. Indeed, every other person at the party who was either being burned or doing the burning were all members of V.F.D. Just on opposite sides of the schism. 2) It was started practically concurrently, the murderer used the subsequent chaos to hide the murder and dump the body. 3) No, she did not. 4) It was not, if anything the murderer should have been grateful as the mistake was of great benefit to them. However, they also wanted to cover up any evidence of the victim's mistake as it would have compromised the position of the murderer within their side of the schism. 5) Yes, it is. 6) Yes, it was. 7) Only one person planned the woman's murder, but she likely would've died anyway in the ensuing fire. The murderer just wanted to make sure she was absolutely dead and buried. 8) Sadly, yes. 9) It was but due to unforeseen natural events caused by the fire, it eventually ended up in the woods.

1 - Was the victim on the VFD fire-extinguishing side? 2 - Did the victim accidentally come across a plan to set the forest on fire? 3 - Was the victim tricked by the murderer so that she would come to the place where the fire would happen? 4- Did the killer pretend to be a friend of the victim? 5 -Did the killer pretend to have a romantic interest in the victim? 6-Did the strategy used by the killer involve the exchange of books between libraries? 7- Did the victim's mistake that led to her death involve exchanging books between libraries? 8- Did the victim's mistake involve accidentally sending secret messages to people on the opposite side of the schism? 9- Did the victim's mistake involve discovering a killer's secret? 10- Was there a killer secret hidden in a book?

I feel like I'm hitting a wall on how to approach this one. It's difficult to get a sense of what the right questions to ask are.
Was the victim's body buried beneath the ground? Was the victim's body definitely not moved by any person or force between their death and the subsequent discovery? Did the victim's mistake cause destruction of property at the archive? Did the murder take place during a party? Did the murder take place in the library?
