Poison Darts made Olaf an orphan and it is implied earlier that the Baudelaire parents that took the shot. What have the Olaf parents done so horrible that they think it's justified to give them such painful and likely slow (poison isn't quick, especially when it's in a dart that stabs you) death?

Something interesting about the ASOUE universe is that some truths are distorted until they become half-truths and even lies. Let's think rationally and check what we know. We know that Fernald hinted to the Baudelaires that their parents had used poison darts at some point. And after that, we know that Olaf claimed that poisoned darts were the cause of the death of his parents (or one of his parents). Question 1 - Are you sure that Fernald was referring to a murder of a human? Question 2 - Are you sure that Fernald was well informed about what really happened?
Question 3 - Have you considered the possibility that everything is just a big misunderstanding? Question 4 - Did you notice that Kit Snicket talks about the events involving the opera night with a smile on his face and without seeming to be hiding a big shameful secret? Q
5 - Don't you think it is more likely that the scheme involving Kit Snicket and poison darts in which she talks about it naturally and a smile on her face has to do with recovering evidence of a crime instead of committing the crime itself?
Taking all of this into account (which is also highly circumstantial) I can imagine a scenario in which Beatrice would actually kill someone. My study of Beatrice's personality indicates that she would do anything to protect her children. In this case, she would be able to kill someone who put her children in danger, and if she did, that is the only canonical explanation. This would not be an act of VFD. VFD is essentially pacifist.
Lemony and Bertrand seem weak to contain any decision by Beatrice. I have this impression about Bertrand analyzing the way he wrote things as recorded in TE. But Kit is not weak. If she participated in a murder, she doesn't know that.

Fernald never mentions poison darts; he starts to say something about the Baudelaire parents on TGG page 222, but he only gets three words into his sentence ("Even your parents--").

It is true!!! Thank you, Dante! This exemplifies how weak our memory is (at least mine) and how easy it is to make words misunderstood. Taking something based on what people have said or failed to say is a dangerous path towards fake news and defamation.
