I’ll say it. You are all right. I am, in fact, Esmé Gigi Genevieve Squalor in disguise, and the main reason I am here is to see if my plans are succeeding. You see, back home I had the life I always wanted. A beautiful apartment, lots of money, and scores of devoted admirers who would do anything I told them to. But after the fire I lost all of that and set out looking for somewhere else to be. Hermes was right, the Swinster Pharmacy is a doorway; I worked that out during my time in Stain’d-by-the-sea as a young girl. On the other side, I found this place, and I immediately got to work. In a world so full of fake news and social media, it was easy to control whatever I wanted to. Sooner or later I was bound to find out that Lemony Snicket’s writings existed here, and of course the first thing I did was look around to see if I had gained a following in this world. That’s why I came here. And what did I find but a bunch of brainwashed show-offs who thought they had figured it all out. You haven’t. Optimism is my Phil-osophy , Beatrice Baudelaire is not who you think she is and somehow none of you caught on to the evils of VFD and still think I’m somehow the villain. I’m not. To those such as Panicky Circles who see me for what I really am, I thank you, and to everyone who has doubted me, you’ll regret it. With all due respect, Esmé Squalor P.S. That girl you saw at the webinar was Carmelita, who I sent to alert that old idiot Daniel Handler of our presence in this world. |

Trenchcoats, hot pink, avocado in everything, anything white and elaborately decorated face masks.
Sadly, another thing that is in is the Dark Academia aesthetic, but I have been attempting to put a stop to that. We can’t have VFD ideologies getting into the mainstream.
