It seems to me that this will be the last Snicket book. The epic ending for Snicket. The real The End. I can't imagine that this will be the last Snicket book. That would be too good of a marketing snippet not to advertise. Still, at least it won't be as bad as back when we thought The Notorious Notations was going to be a proper book! Oh dear. An unfortunate surprise! I noticed that the book is ranked on Amazon in the following categories. The numbers change hourly based on sales: #22 in Teen & Young Adult Literary Fiction #325 in Teen & Young Adult Humorous Fiction #652 in Teen & Young Adult Mysteries & Detective Stories I think its classification in Literary Fiction is telling for what we can expect. By contrast, none of the ASOUE or ATWQ books are included in that category; other categories supersede (e.g., "Children's Action & Adventure Books"). ASOUE and ATWQ are classified as children's books for readers ages 8-12; Poison For Breakfast is classified as a YA novel for 13-18.

#22 in Teen & Young Adult Literary Fiction Wow, already? That’s pretty impressive... A question for the room: When can we expect reviews from literary publications?

Wow, already? That’s pretty impressive... I imagine it's a small category. Still, it's topping at least 78 other books.

It feels so strange to say this after the wait for the book has been so long, but I'm wondering what the future of Snicket literature will be. Will he go down a more conventional route for his next book, will it get much more marketing and a bigger publisher, will he even write another after the trouble he had with this one? Gosh I can't believe I am saying this but.....I just don't think we NEED more Snicket lit. Obviously I am excited for this book, but ASoUE and AtWQ feel so COMPLETE as they are. Add in the TV show and I feel like we've plumbed the world as much as it needs to be. That said, I will read ANYTHING he writes lol who am I kidding but I also think we don't NEED more. And if this book caps it off with an adult philosophical musing for his now adult fans--I'm fine with that.

Actually I'll be great with that. I'm really with a very high expectation. I do not think ATWQ and Asoue are really all we need. I think we deserve PFB. I think we'll finally have a character study done by the author himself. ATWQ shows us a lot about Lemony, I would say that is a character study of Lemony youth time. I want an adult lemony character study. It is true that Asoue already surrenders enough about the form of adult lemony to think. But there is still room for this, especially because in Asoue and Lemony is not the main character. I really want PFB.

Now that I've thought about it, failing some accident, I'm fairly certain Daniel Handler will write more Snicket novels. However, in keeping with this one's purported tone and format, I get the feeling that some of them will be much more experimental.

Well ... I hope so ... I want to be wrong in this respect.
What did Daniel Handler write first? The fox book or PFB?

And there we go, official acknowledgement, confirming once and for all that this is not a drill, this is not a fluke, this is not a mistake, it's actually happening. The converse is that for those of us who've been paying attention then there is literally no new information here at all.

Just fyi, it cannot yet be preordered at Barnes and Noble (as of 5 March 2021). It's not even in our system yet, which I find very strange.
