Semblance is taking award winning to all new levels with 5 darkies. I know we have more awards this year, but this is nonetheless an impressive haul. Unless I miss something we are still awaiting: Most Compassionate Most Notorious Most Missing Ghastlist Gamer Best Organiser and Best Memory I will also be making and posting best award speech when these are done

We've been missing a lot of people this year, certainly.
Many of them we miss because they became less active, and while they were here made a big impact in those members who are still around. For example Willis, Panicky Circles, Foxy, Jackson, Counto, Marlowe, Catastrophist, Pevalwen and even Anka were nominated. Even though we miss them, nobody missed them enough to vote for them so they all got zero votes.
We surely can't measure the impact people make in others or in a community, but some names clearly come to mind when you think of people that molded this community. Dante with his incredible knowledge and passion about ASOUE and its universe, BSam with his neverending humor and fun, Mustache Glasses with his mysterious attire, matthewmemories with his unique weirdness and Seymour Glass with... well I'm not sure what Seymour had that was so special, but someone really misses him. They all got one vote each.
Growing up means changing priorities. Some of us become busy with all the adult stuff that wasn't there when we first joined, and even though we would love to dedicate hours and hours to this community, life has some other plans. That's probably the case of people like Lemona, someone who dedicated a lot of time to this forum and nowadays is elsewhere being a succesful lady (probably), or Sherry Ann, who got married and will soon have a kid of her own! Even though we don't have them around for now, we all have them present and hope to see them both soon and that's why two people voted for each of them.
Finally, the worst part of missing someone is when you know they won't come back, not because they don't want to certainly. We sadly lost two important members of our community and they left this plane of existence too soon. Nobody actually nominated her, but I want to take a moment to remember Linda, who would be so proud and happy to see this forum thriving after all these years and whose presence is always there. And finally, our dear Hermes, who we'll miss for as long this forum is alive. He was key to keep it active when many others left and this place seemed to wither. We miss you so much Hermes, and that's why six of us voted for you to get this award.
I really hope some of these people are back for next year's ceremony.

And now is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. 667 Dark Avenue is a place where memories are made, and what better way to celebrate them than to aggressively rank them in order of significance, disregarding any personal importance each one might have to any specific person? Anyway, enough with the sarcasm and on with the voting scores. Although the January zoom meeting in honour of Hermes was a wonderful event, it only received one vote, perhaps because the timing caused great inconvenience to our many British members, who were probably too tired to really remember anything. Next came Reba, who is a person and not a memory, meaning he really should have been disqualified, but instead received two entire votes (I wonder who the other voter was?) Then came the infamous Resemblance Tim Incident, which fortunately only received three votes. I highly doubt he’d want his typo remembered forever in the great catalogues of 667 history, especially considering his retrospective reaction to titling a thread with a period. And now, for the moment of truth. The winner is…drumroll please… Isadora Is a Door and Kit's tits kick ticks’s wedding!!!! They say that love conquers all, and while I’m not sure about that, it certainly conquers modern technology and surprisingly humorous spelling mistakes. Congratulations on your victory, your banner will be arriving by special delivery shortly.

So I am here to present the award for 'Most Compassionate', but before I can do that, I first feel as though I must talk about the member after whom this award is now named.
Hermes.
I said before, in the thread I made last december, about how much Hermes cared about this forum. Around this time each year, he and I would have a discussion about all things 667. The Darkies are a time for us to celebrate, to look back on what has been, but also to look to the future. Hermes was always concerned with this forums future.
He had spoken before about there being different pillars to 667, certain members upon whose shoulders the fate of the forum rests. Normally these would be figureheads from the different areas of 667. A few years ago, those pillars were Dante, Bandit and Jean Lucio. When we spoke after last years awards, we assessed the current pillars as being Him, Bee, and Sherry Ann. Perhaps now Semblance has taken one of those positions, or perhaps Zortegus? Or Perhaps.. -
But thats not the point. The point is that he was always thinking of the future. That 667 has survived far longer than anyone expected, or hoped, and that the reason it has done that is because of its reach. The books, the theories, the games, the fiction, the art, the birthdays, the awards, the in-jokes, and all of the rest of the nonsense that takes place. Above all, what I felt Hermes always tried to do was to stop 667 squabbling within itself about what it should be, but rather let it be what it is, because everything is somebodys favourite part of it, and theres room for all.
Anyway, Hermes is not here to have another discussion with about this past year. Instead, I'm left to ramble on to myself. I'm pleased with how the last year or two has seen such a flurry of activity comapred to the years that preceeded it. I'm glad we have some newer members, like Roxy and Semblance and Twiggy, though we always need more. And Mostly I'm glad that I got to meet both Bee and Hermes in person last year. I'm just truly sad that I barely said more than a few scentences to Hermes, the day being so busy. I thought there would be more chance, more opportunity in the future. But there isn't. It's impossible to process, really.
So, anyway, In the past Hermes has been our Most Unfortunate, Most Compassionate, and our Best Organiser. But for me, each year, he has always been our Most Valued Poster. There have been a lot of awards this year - 20, in fact. And heres another one. I am, (under no real authority I might add), awarding Hermes, our Birthday Beaver, Chief Philospher, and Dearly Departed friend, with one final award. A Lifetimes Service to 667, and it's members - those past, present, and from the future he has always believed it to have.
Whatever you are doing, and whenever you are reading this, be it today or in 2 weeeks, or in years to come, I would like you to stop what you're doing, go and find a glass and a drink, and join me in raising a toast, to our dear friend, Hermes.
You're my favourite.
