Checkers is fun (they hop!).
I once played a seven-hour game of Monopoly until 1am. By the fifth or sixth hour it becomes comically absurd, which is sort of fun?

I'd rather continue the subject, but I can't. So, I want to suggest a new subject for today: "First Memories".

I'd like to comment on that subject, but today's topic is soda.Discuss.

Drinking water (or anything) during meals will make you feel bloated quickly. Small sips are ok, though.
I haven't drank much soda for years, but unfortunately developed a taste for coke as a sweet in the last year or two. I prefer off-brand colas that don't taste quite as sugary as the main two brands (edit: but none of that diet bs). After a hearty meal I almost always have a craving for a glass of that stuff.

I got given some diet pepsi the other day and it was one of the most disgusting things i've ever put in my mouth.

I try to drink off-brand stuff, but I've developed an addiction to Dr Pepper in the last year or so.

Coca cola is the one and only. All other brands taste like pure salsa

My wife worked in a hospital at one time. She tells that she witnessed the death of a young man, who worked in a soda factory. He had easy access to soda, got free sodas, and also drank sodas with every meal. His death was due to an ulcer that became impossible to treat, and the contents of his stomach went to parts of his body that they weren't supposed to go. The death was painful, unfortunately, and I don't exactly remember the details, and I avoid talking to her about what she saw, but there was something involving external bleeding. Anyway, she stopped drinking soda entirely because of it. I have greatly reduced my soda consumption.

I have an associate from Germany, and her grandpa’s probably a VFD member. From what she’s told me, it sounds like a fabulous place.

I find it interesting to think about how Germany was the scene of so many strange things during the 20th century. Nazism, division into two countries... What must it be like to study history there? And of course, when I think of Germany I remember the defeat of the Brazilian soccer team 7x1.
