this could be true , since lemony also loves his sister, but he mentions Beatrice WAY more than his sister. Also, it is common sense that beatrice is mrs baudelaire because of the evidence shown in the book. I thought any person could see that.

red herrings everywhere. And if there one of the Baudelaire parents is alive it's probably mom, since Lemony out and out says their father is dead.

I still think that Mrs. B is dead. If she was in Heimlich Hospital as Carrie E. Abelabudite, then she would be. Mr. B, I think he's dead.

he said that THE CHILDRENS FATHER was not to rise up again... he did not specify the baudelares, it could be the quagmires father

but- has handler EVER just out and out said someone died? like the exact date, place, reason etc? no. Quigly "seemed" to rise form the dead becasue handler used duncan & isadora to say they thought he perished, but they didn't see him actually die...

Unfortunately, fires are so dangerous even firemen die in fires. Since Mr. Baudelaire was in VFD, it makes sense he'd have that Encyclopedia. But even if he knew what to do to correctly attempt to get out of a fire, if he was too late to get out when he realized there was a fire then he would burn. I suppose Olaf surprised him.

i cant be convinced that mr. baudelaire is alive because of the end of TSS, so dont try. all i can do is to try to convince you to believe me.
first of all, someone mentioned that lemony didnt know what happened to the white-faced ladies. true. but remember lemony SAID he didnt know what happened to them. he ADMITTED he didnt know what happened.
but with mr. baudelaire he didn't say, "im pretty sure that mr. baudelaire is dead", he said he was dead, and if we cant trust lemony, we can't very well believe anything thats happened is true in the books!
lemony isn't like the daily punctilio, he doesnt lie. Many of you may think, "he isnt lying, he just has wrong info", well, you'd have to be wrong again.
if his info on the dead mr. baud was wrong, how can we trust anything he says? is count olaf a good guy? does sunny invent things, and violet like to bite things? no. we have to believe what were told, otherwise you could say anything is possible.
so, if u can believe what lemony has told us thusfar, and you should, (cuz what else is there to believe?), then you should believe that mr. baudelaire is dead.
mr. baudelaire is dead.
he is scattered into the wind like so much ash....
...whatever, you get the point...hes dead.

We are back at square one. One person says he is alive. Another says he isn't. anyway, there is always the thing that lemony is writing these in the future, which means he can add in the bits that drive us crazy.

i agree with u swans, but try to think of it this way:
we trust lemony a little right? i mean, we have to believe most of what he tells us, otherwise we can't really believe anything thats happened, so we have to give him some credit.
plus, lemony's information so far has been very detailed and very accurate. he has maps with exact locations and specific information given to him in the most secret ways, and specific information he has discovered himself.
with the effort he puts into his searching, he is usually a hundred percent sure that he's right or mentions that he isn't sure.
for instance, the powdered face ladies, he told us that he wasn't sure what happened. he said mr. baudelaire was dead, and thats that.
if we cant rely on lemonys information, we might at well take his advice, and read another book.
ps. swans u said "Lemony is just another character, and all he has to rely on is what information Handler feeds him. Yeah, Jacques Snicket and Mr. B could be dead.. and Lemony could have read in the paper that these two men are dead. But Lemony Snicket also read an article that he, himself, was dead."
U don't really think Lemony would believe the daily punctilio do you? He knows its a terrible newspaper. if he said mr. baud was dead, i doubt he got it from the daily punctilio.

Unfortunately Lemony rarely provides the source of his information. Swans was only pointing out that Lemony and Daniel are separate. Daniel may know the "truth" of the situation, but has Lemony act on incorrect information for the purposes of the story. Under this scenario, it is perfectly acceptable to have Lemony reach an erroneous conclusion. For example: Lemony may state strongly that Mr. Baudelaire is dead when Daniel knows that Mr. Baudelaire is alive.

why believe he has incorrect info now? he may be wrong about many more things. WE HAVE TO BELIEVE LEMONY. WHAT ELSE CAN WE BELIEVE IN??!!

once again i have to say i can't be proven that he's alive, but i can still try to convince you that he's dead:
once again, lemony is very specific. he makes sure of his facts before he writes them down. he has dedicated his LIFE to making sure the story is told truthfully, therefore he wouldn't screw up about information this important.
second, this clue is at the end of the book. ITS A CLIFFHANGER PEOPLE!!! you're supposed to get to that part and say "OMG! MR. BAUD IS DEAD! I CANT BELIEVE IT!" then you put the book down and start crying. It's right at the end so handler (lemony, i guess) doesn't have to go into detail, and can just tell you straight out so you can jump excitedly for a year until the next book comes out.

first of all, you said how can lemony be sure hes dead. well, a number of ways. he could've recently discovered it. he could've known all along. you said he wouldnt intentionally give us wrong info. but as i said before, he doesnt give wrong info. he stays up all night sometimes, running from place to place, just to tell us the info. i bet hes right if he's risking his life to tell us.
second, why would he believe the OFD? He says in LSUA that the OFD said the death was an accident, but when (suspected to be VFD) got there, they said it was a murder. he knows its a murder from book four. he wouldnt trust the OFD.
thirdly, im not saying he died in TSS, but im just saying he died. he may very well have died earlier, or later. im just saying he died.
you have to understand that lemony doesnt just believe something from word of mouth. HE DOES RESEARCH. HE RESEARCHES. HE IS A RESEARCHER! he doesn't believe what he's told. that's the point. he does research to proove, or disprove, his theories.
p.s. yes i am stubborn, my dad and i argue a lot and i dont admit im wrong. ever. this is no exception, but this time i have proof to back me up. ;D.
what proof do you have besides theories that it's false? all you can say is that it's possible he's lying.
innocent til proven guilty? you'll need some evidence to support your case, cuz so far im winning this argument.
