I, infact, know that when Lemony is researching for the Baudelaires, he's just one place or two before of the Baudelaire's real whereabouts. I.E., if he's in the Lumbermill, the Baudelaires may be already with the sinister Squalors or ahead. Is it possible for them to reach each other by the end of the series? Or perhaps end it as, "So, if you see someday two lonely siblings, whom look like already lost one sibling of their own, walking along Briny Beach (or something), you, as an avid reader of my woeful research, know that they are the Baudelaires. Please, extend to them my greetings, as I've never corresponded with them before." Phew, that was hard research for me, comparing other works of Daniel Handler's favorite authors, and theorizing how the series to end as something unfortunate and unended. You think?

I had been having the same theory.. I just hope the Bauds won't die.. I just can't blame myself from having that research.. It was just that "that" was which appeared.. I'm really interested on having others' opinion on this topic, I hope you can somehow help and tell them.

That's absolutely right, Spiffy. I hope Lemony catches up at the end. That'd be interesting.

Doesn't Snicket say in the books that Violet and Klaus are still alive? I don't remember exactly which, but it says something like "Many years later when Violet again visited Briny Beach..." and "Many years from now Klaus might remember reading that book..." or something like that? I don't remember any mentions like that for Sunny, though. Since the books so far have been within a period of just a few months, I don't think they will end many years from when the series started. So I always assumed that meant that the siblings somehow managed to survive.

[glow=red,2,300]if anyone dies i think it will be someone closely related to the Baudelaires or one of the people who have been friendly to them like maybe one of the Quagmires. i hope Jerome shows up again though, he was nice[/glow]

I think if anyone should die, it should be Count Olaf. Maybe he will get captured in the end. Besides, doesn't it say in TAA that in the years to come the Baudelaires would be haunted by what happened to the Quagmires, and what they could've done to prevent it?

In TRR, it say something about "years later" Violet and Klaus will lie awake in bed with regrets" and it says also (after Sunny got bit by the snake) that she is ok for now.

what's it you hate about klaus? well, anyway, i think that if the series is really unfortunate, it will have an open ending. something maybe like Count Olaf neither was captured nor dead but continued lingering around the corners of rich families and intentionally orphaned their children... knowing the fact right know that nothing is impossible in the snicket world, do you think Lemony can somehow end it with the twelfth and leave the thirteenth unfinished or something? Because, as I have researched in most "unfortunate" movies and books, the lead characters often die leaving the villains at large or dead as well... This is totally brain-bugging.

This topic is seriously reminding me of another series of books, The Wind on Fire trilogy.
These books arn't really unfortunate, so it was a surprise when the oldest of three dies leaving behind two siblings (her twin brother and her younger sister).
If you translated this into Book the Thirteenth, this means Violet dies and Klaus and Sunny remain. Also as this is an unfortunate series, I think that it is possible for a sibling to get killed off, but when or if it happens, it would HAVE to be in book 13.
