I really like the idea of the "a character from every other book" theory someone mentioned. And I agree with that.

i guess then we'll have to discontinue that theroy, or until the 12 book comes out

Actually, that theroy makes a lot of sense. Probavly to through of the trail of deducing the returning charactor, he skipped the first book with a returning charactor and instead did Bruce in TSS and Phil in TGG. I would think although that it would be likely that Justice Strauss would return in T?? (12) due to the JS clues, BUT than again it could be that Jerome makes a surprise reapperence in T??. I also think it likely that Hal or the VFDiesease lead singer will make a minor return in 13. Or Beatrice if prior theroy is correct.

I support Beatrice but it'd be nice for the orphans to have a chance to reconcile themselves with Hal. I also want to see Hector again of course.

That makes a lot of sense. I support and/or endorse it.

Handler has said himself that he loves bringing back minor characters - the more minor, the better. So more minor characters returning seems a fair bet, although the only character more minor than Bruce that I can think of is Foreman Firstein.

Edit: Or possibly Violet's friend Ben, although both of those are kind of dodgy since they've only ever been mentioned by name, and have never really appeared.

Um, not to burst the bubble of thought, but do you really think he'd bring back that micominor charactor? That's like saying he'd bring back a child that spoke in the audience of Caligari or a person who was sung to when they were sick in THH. I just don't think it is likely that Ben would appear. Then again, he could be a member of VFD that they meet while at Hotel Denounment and becomes a major charactor. You never know with ASOUE theroies, do you?

I wouldn't put it past him. We tend to forget just how minor a character Bruce was, although Firstein and Ben are much, much more minor.

And he did say:

A: I tend to like the really minor characters. I like the character of Bruce who appears in “The Reptile Room,” and then comes back in the 12th book. The more minor the character, the more interesting I find them.

I think Handler will bring back more minor characters. I just wanted to make some guesses which stretched the boundaries.
