I want to know what what the Bauds mom's name is. I would presume that it starts with an "A" because of the family tree in LSUA.

I noticed the "last time" and "never again" quotes. They certainly were intriguing. Since esme and carmelita ALWAYS argue, it would seem that they either disappear, don't meet the bauds ever again, or die. They'll either die or become like the powder faced women I suspect. And Mr. Poe being so inept might probably die. A fitting end for him, though it did say "For it was not Mr. Poe's destiny to be slain by harpoon, at least not today." But since they were taken from him one last time we won't see him again in the story or at the very most we'll hear news of him from some indirect source.

more than likely, yes. And if the leaves werent in the way of the family tree, we'd probably see a V, K, and S above the A and B.

No. Nononono. If you think A and B are the Baudelaire parents- no. because they're simply too high in generation, they'd then be the same generation as Lemony's grandfather and Lemony's already a lot older than the children obviously, that's simply not possible. I've looked at it from that angle and simply concluded that no they're aren't on.

I don't know wether we will find the Bauds intials behind those leaves, because I don't think it is literally a family tree due to the fact if it was then Frank, Dewy and Ernest would be fathers of people who were the same age as them

It might not even be a family tree, it could be a VFD tree, keeping track of all its members or something like that.

Back to the flyswatter on the Carmelita, how exactly does a submarine, assuming it is at least partly submerged, manage to swat down a plane or the SSHAMH if it is aloft? Would the plane have to be flying low? I don't see the practicality of a flyswatter on board a submarine of all things.

I think that was just something ridiculous Olaf bragged about to make the audience laugh. But VFD planes would indeed fly low to gather observations and information, so if the flyswatter were lifted above water into position and then flung at full force at the plane it could work, but the chances of it being successful are really small. Then again evil seems always to win here so it's entirely possible.

I have an inkling (a word which here means, "A slight understanding or vague idea or notion" rather than, "an infant ink child"). Didn't the orphan's father's name start with "B"? Yes it did, "Bertrand". And since Beatrice's last name is Baudelaire, (if you don't know what I'm talking about, go to www.angelfire.com/ga2/LoneWolf/SnickStuff/Anagrams.html ) her initials are B.B....
B.B., and B.B., the Baudelaire's parents? Just a thought there. ;D Just because something anagrams out to something else, doesn't mean it is something else. I'm rather bored of people interpreting that list completely literally, and thinking the head ward (or whatever it was) was completely crammed with volunteers and cover designers. There was also a Ned H. Rirger on the list, which anagrams out to "Red Herring." Nothing on that list can be trusted. I'm pretty sure the fly-swatter was meant to be funny (my evidence: it was), but I also think that it will actually be used (successfully or unsuccessfully, it doesn't matter to me - it will at least be mentioned again, I'm sure, it was too foreboding). Which brings me to another point which struck me recently: Olaf still has the Medusoid Mycelium. What on Earth will he do with that deadly fungus?

well i'm sagely assuming that DEF on the supposed family tree is the denouments which i can pretty much assuse that it's not a family tree as jaques kit and lemony are on it and that would mean insect and look at the outrage from book one my guess is thats it's the generations of old V.F.D famuily which are slowly diing

I think he's just using it to threaten people at the moment. Maybe in Book 13, he'll unleash it on the FFP, and they'll be saved by the power of horseradish.

It was Carmelita's. She had it dragged up to the roof so she could prowl a high swimming pool, as one-fifth of her costume at the time was a pirate costume.
