We all know that Aunt Josephine had a fear of realtors -but did she have good reason though? There was an enormous cavern, but a treacherous team of realtors claimed it for themselves. - Page 28, Book 12 Discuss what you think of this here!

I was the first one to mention this on 667 Dark Avenue(in my fanfic The Snicket Snickersnee), and I think it's an interesting add on by Handler. It'll have to satisfy those Josephine fans who half-expected her to return in TPP.

What's Josephine's maiden name? Might she be another J.S.? What's Gregor's story?

It's worth noting that there's a Sebald film called "Realtors In the Cave". The "enormous cavern" could have been Curdled Cave, and maybe the realtors who took over were responsible for trying to sell it.

Also, Captain Widdershins mentioned in TGG that the Queequeg had been attacked by, amongst other things, realtors.
The enormous cavern being Curdled Cave would make sense. Maybe Ike Anwhistle used to be the guardian of that cave, but when he died, the realtors were able to take it. Maybe that's part of why Josephine fears them.
Anyway, I was glad to see a realtor reference.

I don't like realtors at all. but I think it was just another one of Josephine's ridiculously irrational fears and they're making us laugh by showing them to be to some degree treacherous. I mean, come on... realtors attacking a submarine? And the realtors taking the cave might not have been direct treachery but simply "look! property! Let's sell it and make money!" The Ike and Curdled Cave theory seems pretty sound... That might be why josephine chose it as a hiding spot, it might've been a former safe place for the both of them.

I think this is one of those things that you have to decide whether it's an actual clue or tongue-in-cheek.

I was hoping Josephine would return, but alas. . . At least realtors were mentioned

I really like Dante idea. It's probably just an other back-story(like The Snicket Snickersnee) that we'll never learn about... Someone should write a fanfic! (like me)
