I did like this one, but my reasons why are already above, so I won't repeat it. I think this was the first book that I actually waited to come out, I didn't start reading them until rather late, because TCC was out or almost out when I started... Anyway, it has one of the most interesting plots, and some of the most exciting scenes. Also, again, lots of new information.

I started reading after this was already out and I really liked it. 1) Quigley. I mean that was pretty cool and he was actually (in my opinion some hate him) a good character with information and he was capable of helping the Baudelaires. 2) VFD HQ. I mean the stories Lemony told about that place were awesome. It's like a legend. 3) The Sinister Duo. While I don't like villains these two were ambiguous enough to cause interest and also they managed to cow Olaf which was nice. They also show us that VFD isn't necesssarily made up of pushovers, it does have others to contend with besides Olaf. 4) The ending. I mean, that escape was awesome and so was how they stood up to Olaf and got Sunny back. I also liked how the white faced women left him. Yeah I think that's my 2 cents worth on this subject.

I got really into Snicket around the time TSS was published. Likewise. Though I did read TEE before TSS, I wasn't really into the series until I saw some friends reading them. Then later I went back and read them all in order, buying a few of them.

Before the TSS, I had this enormous theory that Quigley was going to come back somehow. I remember that I stayed home from school that day and my mother came by at lunch to drive me to the bookstore. I bought it and started reading right there. I couldn't put it down, though I do recall watching Daniel Handler promoting the book on TV.
The second that I found out Quigley was alive I dashed online and rubbed my theory in everyone's face. Something along the lines of "QUIGLEY'S ALIVE I TOLD YOU SO."
Then someone posted back and said "Thanks for ruining it."
I felt so embarrassed. It never occurred to me that anyone else wouldn't be finished as quickly as I.

ahahahaha. Daniel Handler PROMOTING the book on tv? WHAT IS THIS? You should've taped it or something, he's supposed to be telling everyone NOT to read it..

The Slippery Slope is not my favourite book, but I like it because it has a lot more background information and such compared to other books.
And I quite like the Sinister Duo.

I enjoy mountains and such an environment in general so that made the book appeal to me from the start. Add to it the fact that the action starts immediately and doesn't stop until the end while still providing information and a new character and it made it quite awesome.

This was my fave of the whole series. Some parts made me wana Some made me happy (Quigly Quagmire) and L.S. revealed quite a bit about V.F.D. and many other secrets in the series. The setting was perfect. The only thing I hated was Carmellita Spats! She absolutely gets on my freaking nerves! I nearly cried when the Man with a beard but no hair and the Woman with hair but no beard , destroyed the V.F.D. headquarters! This book had some very mixed emotions in it. Thats why I love it so much!

Indeed, the destruction was rather horrible but I'm glad we at least got to see it. I wonder if book 13 will take us to the Valorous Farms Dairy(or its remains?) but I doubt it. Maybe thursday's meeting will be there? Who knows. I liked that Quigley had also seen Jacques so we knew what he was doing before his capture and subsequent death.

I totally died from happiness when I was reading The Slippery Slope.
The theory did cross my mind that Quigley was alive, but I thought it was more likely that a parent (or someone else, I can't remember) wasn't dead. Then, when Quigley announced his name, I was like: "I KNEW IT!" I remember that part; I nearly sprung off my couch where I was reading.
And then, I remember reading the slope scene for the first time in my bedroom. I literally just STARED at the illustration (I still do) for a really long time, and must've read the part over about five times.
Then, I started to fangirl whenever there was a Violet/Quigley "moment".
But then, I tottally spazzed a while after I read it and became a Violet/Duncan shipper, before turning the tables and being a REALLY avid Violet/Quigley shipper again.
It's a LONG story...

Hahaha. It sounds like a long story indeed. Without getting too much into it I suppose I ship Violet Quigley since how can you see it happening otherwise? And I like Quigley despite the number of Quigley haters out there.

ahahahaha. Daniel Handler PROMOTING the book on tv? WHAT IS THIS? You should've taped it or something, he's supposed to be telling everyone NOT to read it.. He was. The interviewer was saying things such as "So, what's the tenth book about?" and he would become frantic and sweaty, replying "It doesn't matter what it's about! Don't read these books whatever you do."

I read The Slippery Slope whilst on holiday in Mallorca. It's probably one of my favourites from the series. I thought the Violet/Quigley ship was good. I also recall being overly amused by the whole 'xylophone is not an adjective' bit.

Yeah, I really really liked it, at one point I got vertigo from how high the mountains looked in my mind.
And the whole "Xylophone" thing was very funny. My best friend can't say xylophone without having me crack up.
And Quigley being alive made me jawdrop and stare at the sentance for half an hour...... O.o
