I became enamored of what VFD HQ must've been like in its time. I was also intrigued by the infernal duo. They seemed people I could pin the blame on for all the bad stuff that happened. Olaf being intimidated was also a plus.

Thing is, I really like Quigley, as a character, I think he comes across as a really nice guy with a lot of information and lots of skills and all. But I liked the Violet/Duncan pairing therefore I was a little bit upset when she and Quigley had their 'moment'. It's a bit random though, isn't it...Isadora, Duncan and Quigley. Maybe Isadora Duncan's middle name was Quigley *shrugs* I like TSS though. I think it's one of the best books, information wise, and interesting, and it was good to see Sunny's culinary skills developing, and to find out Count Olaf can be scared too!! xx

Indeed. I thought Violet/Quigley was ok and let us hope that there will be NO fights between Duncan and Quigley. It is a bit sad that we won't get to see the Quagmire reunion. By the time they show up they'll have been together for awhile.

Quigley is my fav character, so I am enjoying their "romance". I doubt their will be fighting, because their never was a Violet/Duncan "romance". Duncan could have had a crush though.

I'm expecting something to go wrong with the Violet/Quigley romance, either because Quigley's deceptions are revealed (he seemed to me to be lying in TSS about how much he knew about the V.F.D. and how he knew it), or because he will reject the Baudelaires for the bad things they've done...
It would be too lucky for Violet to have a successful romance.

Yeah, you're probably right. Though I wish it could go right.

It would be too lucky for Violet to have a successful romance. I think my heart just broke. But, I have to agree with you on some levels. Maybe I'm just hoping like a hopeless fangirl, but I don't think Quigley would reject the Baudelaires for things like that. I dunno. He'd know that it was for the greater good. I used to really think that Quigley was a liar, but since book twelve my suspicions have died down substantially. It's still entirely possible...

I've considered this a little. I think Quigley - indeed, all three Quagmires - might well be rather troubled by what the Baudelaires have done. I don't think they'd reject them outright, but they might take a while to come to terms with it, unless they've had to perform some similar acts of villainy in the absence of the Baudelaires. Then again, it's always possible that the Quagmires aren't such good friends as they might be - or might be a little too strongly reminded of the way their own home was burnt down. The Quagmires haven't really been living in the dangerous world that the Baudleaires have - they've just been floating aimlessly, above everyone.

They don't have a while, though. VFD is probably closing in on them now with those stupid eagles. They have to do something in the The End or they'll never have another opportunity again.

You mean bad VFD is closing in on them. Hm. I didn't think of the Quagmires rejecting the Baudelaires, but now you've helped me open my eyes it's entirely possible. And I've always been perplexed by the Bauds saying the Quagmires have it worse: They don't. While the bauds have been scampering around, chased and almost killed at every corner the Quagmires are floating peacefully. Only recently have they had any kind of difficulty.

I think that they've been so familiar with their current predicament that they actually see it as less worse than someone else's slightly less unfortunate situation. Probably. The Baudelaires need to learn that no one could ever possibly love an orphan, much less three of them.

Pfft. Orphans can love other orphans.
And I still find the baudelaires' insistance that the quagmires have it worse to be ridiculous.

Hmm..... interesting points there. I don't think the Quagmires will not be friends with the Baudelaires anymore. But it is possible. It may happen for a period of time but not forever. And like in my sig., I love the Violet x Quigley pairing! And there was never evidence of Duncan x Violet ever and I like Violet x Quigley better anyways. I liked their 'moment' a lot BTW.
