I thought of that before, but/and that would be creepy. I think they cuddled, kissed, but also talked- there's about a ,illion things they could talk about. Perhaps they discussed all of Olaf and Esme's silly outfits |

I think that Quigly just flattered Violet, saying how impressed he is with her inventions. Isn't that romantic enough? The real question is, who called / shouted Violet's name according to Kit Snicket?

I think Daniel Handler only made it ambiguous to throw a bone to Violet/Duncan shippers. Klaus/Isadora shippers aren't so lucky, but even in what little time there was, I'm pretty sure that Violet/Duncan always had more evidence than Klaus/Isadora.

Personally I think something a little more R-rated happened or Snicket wouldn't have zoomed out so dramatically.

Personally I think something a little more R-rated happened or Snicket wouldn't have zoomed out so dramatically. I was thinking just that. He didn't zoom out when Fiona Kissed klaus, even thought was just a peck. If they were doing anything dirty, Handler couldn't have wrote it, the youngest person I've seen read the series was my 10 year old brother! |

Yeah, but when Fiona kissed Klaus, it was in front of a couple of other characters. Violet and Quigley were alone... but nonetheless, on a ledge made from a river of ice in a freezing mountain range.

Nonetheless, both are legitimate names, as forenames and surnames. And if you're pronouncing it correctly, Duncan shouldn't sound like "dunce."

ok, i'm just commenting that i know a kid who read tww in 1st grade....a bit odd, but that kid's an advanced reader. and at 1st i kind of thought that they weren't doing anything bad, but now that you all mention this...but, do you really think that snicket would really decide for then to do the deed?  they're only young children. i have NO idea. i can't figure this one out. HELP ME!!! |

do you really think that snicket would really decide for then to do the deed? Not really. And even in the unlikely circumstance that he did, the privacy he provided Violet and Quigley with means we can forever ignore it. |

Let's see. I really rather think Lemony 'dramicly zoomed out' as a way of emphasizing the Personal cord struck with the two.
Would it had been nearly as romantic if she had spelled everything out to us? Like when you threaten a very small child- you don't say, "I'm going to come yell at you." but rather 'You're not gong to like what's going to happen if I have to come up there!!' Then he child is left to imagine that a vampire will come after them. The mind reels with the most outrageously detailed stories. That's why Beatrice is so perfect. Lemony Loves her so dearly that to us she is the most beautiful woman in the world- more beautiful than any picture could capture.
SO I appreciate the space between us and what happens- it let's my mind create the most romantic and sweet scene possible. It make their paring all the more unbearable.
I think Quigley has had at least a crush on her ever since he saw the picture of her waiting on the dock. It wasn't until she revealed her mask did he realize he was completely head over heals. Or something... ^^;

I personally think it was a sweet moment between the two of them - that they stopped to rest and talk. I think the privacy was for Violet, not to mention they really were alone. Quigley probably said things (sweet things, not naughty things) to her that he wouldn't have said around others. So Lemony decided to give them their privacy. Also, they were on a giant frozen waterfall. I don't think too much movement was involved. I think they kissed, whether Quigley pecked her on the cheek or they kissed for real (on the lips,) but I don't believe it went any further.
