i think they kissed, not a peck but, you know. they couldn't do *it* because 1)it would be to cold and 2) because they are on a ledge and lastly 3) Um, they are both 14! They'll wait anoter maybe, 4 years, please! If the Quagmires don't die, of course. I may create a fan fic about that relation ship! I second that. Yours with respect, Saskia Angelique Viviane kutiekweeen rulz I know what happened: -Quigley set her up to tell him about 'crushes' -Quigley showed his real feelings -Violet told him that she liked Duncan more -Quigley was pissed -Quigley tried to kiss her -Violet hit him -He apologized -Klaus laughed b/c he could imagine everything -Violet and Quigley were friends well what is going on here. wait, how could they watch potter puppet pals, i doubt they even knew who harry potter was. A bit weird these discussions... Yours with respect, Saskia Angelique Viviane kutiekween rulz -Violet thought about Duncan -Then ppl started imagining things -Then I got pissed That's exacly what happened. No lie. well wait a second!Huh, what is it with the duncan thing? And how could they have watched potterpuppet pals, a bit weird! That part of the book is my favourite scene in the WHOLE series. But the Slippery Slope isn't my favourite book. I couldn't pick a favourite book!

If they didn't kiss, and Snicket doesn't shut up about privacy, then what on Earth did they do? ;D LOL... I like to think that they kissed.

Hmmm I personally think they just kissed or something but to play devil's advocate, in chapter thirteen Violet and Quigley kept calling each others names while he was drowning or something.. and he didn't call "Klaus!" or "Sunny!" just "Violet!" as if Quigley only cared for Violet. So they seemed pretty close, and maybe whatever they did on that ledge brought them closer. Hehe depends how you see what I'm saying.

I'm pretty sure they kissed. Ah, if only life were like that all the time. I wouldn't wait for any amount of time to get Tessa up on that icy ledge

If anyone had any doubt about it, then I assure that they didn't "do the deed." I have a lot of respect for Lemony Snicket, and I don't believe he would allude to something like that. He's a much better guy than that.
Anyway, I feel like they kissed (not just a peck), and maybe cuddled. It wasn't anything crazy, we can be certain, because Violet has always been a quiet, careful girl. It would definitely be a very sweet scene because they both have a lot of respect for eachother. They may have held hands or something like that, too, but that's it.
Quigley described to Violet how beautiful he thought she was. I imagine them having a sweet, romantic conversation like that. She also most likely told him that she hadn't known anyone besides her siblings that she felt truly safe with since her parents had died, and he made her feel safe and secure.
That scene in the book is one of my favorite ones because it is so sweet and because of the way Snicket leaves so much to the imagination. Leaving those scenes out is a special touch that I enjoy.
If anyone has ever read the book The Princess Bride , then you know about the scene when Westley and Buttercup are reunited with eachother after she recognizes him. The author leaves that scene to the imagination just like Snicket did in TSS. Now, I admit, that scene most likely did involve "the deed," but they were adults, and she had thought he was dead for ages, so that's much different. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Actually, Buttercup's Baby makes it clear that Buttercup and Westley did not do the deed unitl they reached One Tree Island.
But you're right that there's a similarity between those two scenes. The more I think about it, the more connections between the two works I see - I find it surprising that there are no explicit references.

Really? You would think that Violet and Quigley would 'get busy' in the middle of winter atop an icy mountain peak?

I'm thinking of closing this thread. Everyone seems pretty much in agreement on what happened, or at lea`st on what didn't happen and exactly how cold it was on Mount Fraught. Does anyone have any ideas on what other areas this discussion could cover?
How about this: I find Violet and Quigley's relationship implausible because it is founded on Quigley being unnaturally perfect. He turns up out of nowhere, knows everything, can do anything, is adventurous and a little bit sad. He is designed as a hero rather than another confused kid like his siblings or like the Baudelaires.

I want that they just hugged. I don't want to think they had sex. Violet wasn't even 15! So, Dante, you should close this thread!

I'll give it a couple of days. If anyone wants to engage with the following statement, I encourage you to do so: How about this: I find Violet and Quigley's relationship implausible because it is founded on Quigley being unnaturally perfect. He turns up out of nowhere, knows everything, can do anything, is adventurous and a little bit sad. He is designed as a hero rather than another confused kid like his siblings or like the Baudelaires.
