Ya know, I've been thinking.
I'm sure alot of you have done this, but where you
go and lay on your back in the water and stuff and float
there.
I think that Olaf is making the orphans do all the
work (building shelter, getting suppliesd from boat, picking strawberries) while he lounges.
Maybe.

That was my immediate first impression, actually, and if the cover's meant to be dramatic and ominous, it doesn't seem to have worked on me... Probably a pity. I now think Olaf doesn't look quite well, particularly since he's probably soaking wet still lying there, though. But first impressions are hard to shake off.

We could play around with enlarging the image, but it will just get fuzzy. Now that it's been released, it's just a matter of time before bn.com and Amazon post it too. They usually have the option to enlarge the image. I noticed it's not on lemonysnicket.com yet. EDIT: This is what happens when you enlarge. The second picture is three times the size (and I would say three times as fuzzy).   |

Haha. Stupid UE. I especially liked this post: Nice grammar. Anyways, I really need to start looking at BBooks again (Gloom Looms in particular). This is quite the break through. I didn't see the Quags at first, but then I kinda saw them. The thing on Olaf's foot does seem to be a tattoo, although for some reason I always imagined it on the outside of his ankle. I haven't recieved the Author Tracker email yet, either. Maybe they just favor Gigi. |

*hyperventilates* OMG this is so soon! And that's probably Olaf's foot, but it looks like he's in water, maybe under it. maybe there was a storm and he was thrown overboard and he drowned in it? because he looks dead. Also, I have an image resizer powertoy for Windows. I might be able to resize it to a suitable veiwing height. EDIT: Here it is:  Now that we can see it a little better, It would appear that the border is some sort of lime green with pink diamonds, or perhaps the tacky wall pattern from the Orphans Shack in TAA. It looks like Violet has a rope around her, and - yes, it looks like Olaf is lying in water. Perhaps they are in a boat that is sinking? EDIT AGAIN: Hey, on Olaf's exposed foot..... There's a scar of some sort...... OMG, Charles! In TMM with the saw? Wouldn't THAT have caused a scar on his foot? Maybe Olaf's really dead, and this is Charles in disguise, posing as Olaf in an attempt to get them out of the burning Hotel D? Maybe.... It's just a theory..... |

This thread seems like the appropriate place being that the same email had the cover in it. Anyone figure out the code? The letters I have so far are h, e, i, s, f, i, n, s, h and I'm missing a few.
