In my opinion, I am still not sure. Violet seems like death is looming over her head, but Klaus? I have a feeling that Handler would surprise us with the death of him. Sunny, she has been through so many near death experiences, (Curiously, Snicket has always said in advance that she survives the matter) so I have no idea.
Reasons Why Violet May Die: As some have said, Violet is the eldest Baudelaire, and had made a vow to her parents (something of the sort, I can't remember) that she would protect her siblings from harm. It would make for a powerful moment if Violet did die, and either her siblings would die with her, or Klaus and Sunny would live on.
Reasons Why Klaus May Die: In a way, he is the overlooked character in ASOUE. He is a vital part of the story, and he may find out something crucial to the secret of VFD while researching, and he would die and his sisters would never find out what he had learned, provided that he died, and then his commonplace book was lost.
Reasons Why Sunny May Die: Sunny is a young girl, and is still extremely vulnerable. She might get herself into a lot of trouble while on a mission for her siblings, like in TSS. In the next books, I will pay close attention to Snicket's narration if Sunny is in a case of peril, because he had told us that Sunny had survived the Incredibly Deadly Viper and Mushroom incidents in advance [which made me say "No, don't tell me that!" out loud, mind you], because, if he does not say that Sunny survives that particular incident, I would infer that Sunny would infact perish.
[Edit: If Quigley IS in fact an imposter, I would think he would kill Violet, or something. Even if he was an imposter, I hope he wouldn't be that evil though.]
[HUGEST EDIT IN THE HISTORY OF ALL EDITS: I just picked up TWW about 5 minutes ago, and I noticed a (random?) sword hung atop the sign of Damocles Dock. Where was the tip of that sword pointing? Directly at Violet's head. Coincidence? I don't think so.]

If any of the young children were to die in my opionon it would be Klaus or Violet. I don't at all think it would be Sunny who would die.
Violet is more likely to die out of the three. I say this because, Violet would go at any costs to save her younger siblings because she promised her parents she would always protect them. Violet's inventions have also saved or helped the children in many ways. Without her, Sunny and Klaus could be in much trouble.
Klaus is also likely to die because he is the middle child. As one poster said earlier, the middle child is sometimes overlooked (or along the lines of that. I can't quite remember.) He is also the only boy of the children, so Handler might want to kill off a boy. He knows alot more, I think, out of the other two. So if he was to be killed a vital link in the chain would be missing.
I hope none of the children die, though. It would be very "unfornunate." I would hope Handler wouldn't make it that horrible.

I say again my reasons why the children should not die: If they're dead, they can't suffer.

If one of them dies it will be Violet because she is my favorite.
..And the ones I love most are always killed off. I have proof of this. TV and popular literature only exsist to torment me.

i belive that violet will die. my reasoning: i have been researching anagrams in my attempt to understand more of Lemony Snicket's clues. i was very confused of the statement made by sunny PIETRISYCAMOLLAVIADELRECHIOTEMEXITY which was said to mean, i have not the faintest idea what is going on here. when made into anagram form it says something like VIOLET DIES, I CRY FOR HELP oh god i forget the rest, but i will find where i wrote it down and let you know. WHAT THE???

From Page 121: I cannot say that Violet, years later, slept easily when she looked back on her life--there were too many miserable times for any of the Baudelaires to be peaceful sleepers--but she was always a bit proud of herself that she realized that her siblings should in fact excuse themselves from the kitchen and move to a more helpful location.Well, there you have it, folks! Both of them lay awake years later, thinking about their life. With All Due Respect, Chexfan2000 Well, Chexfan2000... I intend to use your own quote against you. In fact, this quote does NOT state that Violet lies awake years later. Lemony says he "cannot say that Violet, years later, slept easily". Therefore it *is* possible that Violet could die at the end of the series, thus not able to lie awake *hee hee* Personally, I do not believe any of the Baudelaire's would die before the middle of book 13. As Dante stated, the Bauds need to be alive in order to be tortured *smirk* I, myself, would like the mysterious ending of not knowing exactly what happens to them. Then I could be in excruciating despair for years... lying awake in misery at not knowing their fate. I could search the books for clues in desperation for a hint that would never be confirmed... ah... the joy... the pain... Mollie Oh, BTW, do I really need to spend hours trying to come up with a quirky Sig to impress all of you... er... fantastic people? Wouldn't you be much more interested in rereading UA for more hints, anyway? ~___^ Hey, I even spell-checked first... what a concept! Mollie

I forget the details, but there was a sword hanging over his face, held up by a hair, or something. Anyway, I think he escaped. But the point is, the sword is there as a reference to Damocles, who the dock is named after.

That's pretty much what I remember of the Damocles legend; I think Damocles was at a feast with the sword suspended over his head, as a test of bravery.
I've always taken the sword on the dock to represent the general sense of doom and danger hanging over the heads of the children; I hadn't noticed that it was directly over Violet.

The Sword of Damocles is a fable about a servant of the king Damocles who wants to be king. so the servant goes around saying nice things about the king to the king. Then after so many days of the servant doing this, the king asks, "Do you want to be king, servant? Is that why you keep praising me?" Then the servant says, " Oh, no, great king. I was just wondering what it would be like in the day of a king like yourself." So the king lets the servant be king for a day. The next day, the servant wakes up and does whatever the king does in his life. He can give any command and he gets anything he wishes for. Then the servant goes to the royal throne and then sees a sword dangling over him on a single thin thread that could fall instantly and kill him. "That sword!" the servant exclaims. "Why is it above my head?!" "You wanted to know what it would be like in the day of a king," the king says. "He must always be on guard lest he be slain." "Oh, king take back your power! I would not have it for another moment. Never again did the servant envy the king.
Anyway, I think Violet will die because she's the eldest and will die for Klaus and sunny.

i think that violet will die because she was trying to get sunny. Trying to get Sunny? I don't quite follow you here. They all took some horseradish, so the should be protected, for now, from the Medusoid Mycelium. No, I don't get what you mean. Could you clarify, please?
