Worst: Olaf is poisoned from eating fruit of the island, then everyone who the Baudelaires have ever met rises out of the ocean and reveals that VFD was training them.

Actually the only problem I have with that ending is the "VFD was training you" part. Olaf dying and the others rising from the dead I'd actually enjoy. But Snicket's promised that certain characters will not rise. I still remember monty thinking Olaf could be torn to pieces by wild animals. will that happen?

Hmm, it seems that the eagles and one of Monty's snakes will be back for B13, so I guess Snicket could bring back the lions as well somehow (or introduce some new vicious V.F.D. beast, like a boar (hm, very Lord of the Flies)). (Bad ending: Snicket goes overboard and introduces V.F.D. butterflies and volunteer trees and volunteer everything else in nature, and they all team up to defeat Olaf like in some fairy-tale.)

That would be ridiculous. I like the idea of animals but indeed he should not go overboard. It would, however, be in the nature of the volunteers themseleves to team up and do Olaf in. I just don't think one person alone will topple him.

I think a cool ending would be one where Count Olaf and Esme turn out to be the mother and father, who are in disguise as villains in order to watch over the Baudelaires without being discovered. Perhaps the Baudelaires are in some sort of a test, and the whole thing was made up in order to see how the kids would react to the situations that were placed before them. This kind of goes in with what orsa said, about VFD training them, but VFD doesn't have to be in on it. It could just be that Count Olaf is a fake and so is Esme.

*frowns* I don't like that ending at all. I mean, Olaf and Esme have done some pretty irreversable things like killing Jacques, burning the carnival, and taken possession of the mycelium.

That theory would mean the Baud parents are really ignoble people and would be bad and it would make the whole Olaf marrying Violet thing even freakier than it is and Esme basically adopting Carmelita really horrible.

Here's the best and worst endings I imagine:
Worst first:
Worst: Sunny finds some fruit on the island, and everyone's so hungry so she makes some fruit salad while Count Olaf's making an S.O.S. in the sand. Klaus eats the fruit salad first, then gets really sick and Violet builds him a bed out of wood and large leaves. Then Violet finds a lost book about the FFP and the fruit of the island. The Female Finnish Pirates poisoned the fruit with snake venom, but they were hiding somewhere on the island, and Olaf had helped them poison the fruit because he had access to Monty's snakes, and Klaus dies. Then Violet commits suicide and Sunny tries to swim away from the island, then drowns.
Best: There are native people on the island, and they make a pork dinner for the Bauds and Olaf. Olaf is the first to eat, and he chokes on a bone. Then he dies. The native people are V.F.D.ers in disguise, and they rescue the Baudelaires. Quigley is hanged or dies some way. I just hate that guy.

I also hope, like Dante, that all (or at least most) of the bbre notes are explained/included in the end.

Best: Voilet turns against the orphans.
Worst: Count Olaf decides to be nice to the orphans and it's all a VFD traning...

Why is Violet being a traitor a good thing?

I think it would add emotional depth to the last book.

I'm pretty sure the last book in asoue will already have emotional depth, but whatever.
