I hope this is all false. Because I really wanted some serious closure here. I want to know:
1. What the sugar bowl is. 2. What VFD does and is. 3. Who Beatrice is. 4. What is the Baudelaire parents deal? Is one alive or are they both dead? 5. What do the Bauds end up doing? 6. What happens the Quagmires?

Kurtz and Marlow are characters from Conrad's "Heart of Darkness".

Ok, several people have quoted this and added information, and I've found the last two, so I'm going to put it all together.
Friday - Robinson Crusoe Ishmael - Moby-Dick Ariel- The Tempest Dr. Kurtz - Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" Mrs. Marlow - Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" Rabbi Bligh - Probably refers to William Bligh, an officer of the British royal navy famous for a mutiny that occured on his ship HMAV Bounty while in the south seas. Making him a rabbi sounds like a Handler thing to do. Erewhon - The name of a fictional country in a book with the same title, by Samuel Butler. According to Wikipedia: "At first glance, Erewhon appears to be a utopia, yet it soon becomes clear that this is far from the case. Yet for all the failings of Erewhon, it is also clearly not a dystopia."

Yesterday I searched something on the computer, but it came up with the whole 1st chapter of The End! But I'm guessing it only stayed there for 1 day, because today, when I went back, it was the first chapter to some other book!

no double posts, and look right above this thread for the 1st chapter
Edit: Kerri (the girl in the pic) said that The End had 14 chapters. 324 pages were made up of THIRTEEN chapters, and the final chapter was THIRTEEN pages. That means ONLY 337 pages.
Note this is just a rumor because she didn't answer any emails except this one so take it with a grain of salt.

Ok, now I'm positive that this girl is just a big liar trying to get attention. The End is supposed to have almost 400 pages.

Or maybe the girl didn't really write the email.
According to official sources, the book only has 356 pages, which is about 50 away from 400, FYI.

NO. WAY. Are you trying to tell me that we never learn what's in the sugar bowl, the fates of the Baudelaires' allies or what that mysterious question mark is??? MADNESS. LS would never do that unless he wanted his fans to murder him in his sleep. The book's coming out tomorrow, so I'll know then, but this is disturbing news.
I guessed that about Olaf, Kit and baby Beatrice, but seriously, that girl means to tell us that we never find out the most important secrets, which we've waited a number of books to discover? NO. We must. It's as simple as that. I don't believe her anyway; if she were telling the truth, she'd be able to tell us something we couldn't solve through simple guesswork, like, oh, how the Baudelaires manage to prove their innocence. The Beatrice Letters said Sunny appeared on the radio to discuss her recipes, but that wouldn't be possible if she remained a wanted killer. Then there's Kits' death. I don't doubt that it will happen, but it wouldn't occur until the end of the book, surely? What are the Baudelaires supposed to do for all those chapters? Sit around and discuss cooking with the pointless new characters that serve as islanders? I doubt it.
And what about the man they're supposed to meet who has a book filled with secrets about their parents? Isn't it convenient that the people who gave these spoilers left that crucial bit of info. out? What does he tell the Baudelaires? Who is he? Is he Lemony Snicket? I don't hear anybody answering... I just think it's absolute madness for someone to suggest that half the returning characters will be swallowed up by the enormous creature/machine from TGG. How is that logical?
And are these islanders even THE FFP pirates that Violet's supposed to meet in this book? Does Violet return to Briny Beach for a third time? Again, I don't hear anyone answering... Listen and listen good. There would be no point in half that stuff happening, so how could it? Daniel Handler surely doesn't wants hordes of murderers hunting him down on Friday.
BTW, has everybody forgotten that the forbidden fruit and the incredibly deadly viper are supposed to be in this book? Or maybe it's just that girl and her cohorts, who are almost certainly lying about half that stuff... OK, we'll find out tomorrow, but for now... this news is abombinable and slightly upsetting. I'm sure that most will agree with me. I'm not sorry about the rant.
