Here is a chapter by chapter summary:
For Beatrice,
I cherished, you perished
the world's been nightmarished.
Well its basically what you can read in the above thread. Not much occurs, except the mention of the storm, and Olaf's return too comical villany.
Chapter 2:
Picture: The wave crashing over the boat.
The chapter begins with the storm. Lemony describes the storm in extreme detail. The Baudelaires survive and find themselves on a coastal shelf, with hundreds a items from many shipwrecks scattered around. They find Olaf in the cover picture position, but he isn't dead. He wakes up and promptly calls the land that they are near 'Olaf-land', and declares himself king of the primitaves. A young girl named Friday meets them, in a long white robe. she introduces the Baudelaires to the island, they leave with her too it, but Friday forces Olaf to stay, after he insults her. The four children head for the island.
Chapter 3:
Picture: A flock of sheep
Friday guides them to a man called Ishmael and describes the customs of the island. She offers cocunut cordial to the Bauds. who find it rather wine like, but learn that its the only thing to drink on the island. She explains that everyone on the island are castaways except for those born there, like her. She explains that Ishmael is the facilitator and decides what junk the islander's should keep and what should be sent to the arboretum on the far side of the island, over a brae. She explains that only Ishmael has been in the arboretum, and seen the far side of the island. she speaks of a day called Decision Day, when people can choose whether they want to leave the island or stay. she says no-one's left in the eight years she's been alive. The sheep she explains, cart everything on the island.
Ishmael's main belief, according to Friday, is that everyone should be treated kindly. Unkind people don't belong. Thus they don't tell Ishmael when they meet him, of their troubles, only that Olaf is evil. Ishmael has sore feet, so he routinely covers them in clay.
Ishmael knows of the Baudelaire name, but doesn't say how. The Baudelaires change into the robes of the island, and learn that not even sunglasses are allowed on the island. The Baudelaire's each keep one item though, their ribbon, com. book, and Sunny's new whisk. Friday tells of how her father was eaten and mother survived. They think about the island.
Chapter 4:
Picture: Castaways with various items of debris.
The Bauds find Ishmael with all the castaways, whom all have names from books about castaways. Each of the castaways are introduced to the Baudelaires, then each offers up their items to Ishmael and ask whether it should be kept. Ismael shuns everything, despite the Baudelaires' insistance the things can be used. Ishmael sends them all off except for Friday and her mother. Ishmael says a storm is coming, and the Baudelaires ask how he knows. He says that he has magic, but the Bauds. know better. Ishmael explains that only the bare nessecities are kept on the island.
Ishmael reccomends the Bauds not to 'rock the boat' and disturb everyone's ways. Not to ask to many questions, or to build anything. Mrs. Caliban, Friday's mother, serves the Bauds. some Caviche, which is all they have for lunch on the island. She tells them that all they have for breakfast in dry seaweed, and all they have for dinner is onion soup. Ishmael calls a toast to the 'Baudelaire orphans' although no-one has said they were orphans at all. Ishmael offers the Baudelaires some coconut cordial, but none accept it, despite Ishmael almost insistance.
Chapter 5:

Lemony explains what 'peer pressure' is, and relates it to the Bauds. situation. Bauds spend a few days on the island, learn to feel safe. Feel bored and restricted, but safe. Bauds get daily work to do. Sunny remembers trip to Fountain of Victorious Finance, where the Baud mum is revealed to have done some VFD secret map passing.
