The time has come for The Official The End Spoiler Thread to be released. This thread is for any spoilers members may come across for The End before its release date, specifically and especially those found in early-release copies of the book (some early-release reviews and comments by others who may have obtained early-release copies are included in this).

Remember, this is the ONLY place that The End spoilers may be posted before its release date.

;D ;D ;DYAY!!! I got my copy of the book today. I just love having a dad on the radio. He got me a press relese copy with an unfortunate press pack. The catch is I have to read it and then talk about it on air on fri 13. no big deal though cause I GOT THE BOOK!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I'm just wondering if "lostsnicketsibling" is telling the truth because, well it isn't usually the case that a major selling book is given to a radio station to review before it is released. Saying that I realise that it would be perfectly fine if it was just like an excerpt and you have to comment on the book relying on that.

Hi, not sure whether this has been posted,

There's a piece on 'The End' on cnn.com which is quite spoilerish, containing names of characters, the first paragragh (seems like the purported first pages of 'The End' in this thread asoue.proboards11.com/index.cgi?board=end&action=display&thread=1155760606&page=1 is genuine, unless the CNN has got it wrong too...)

Here's the most interesting bits from the CNN article on The End:

"The End," which takes place in that classic literary setting, a desert island, has its share of literary references. There are characters named Friday, Ishmael, Ariel, Dr. Kurtz (and Ms. Marlow), Rabbi Bligh and Erewhon, all of which -- if you're unsure of their provenance -- can be found in works of castaway fiction.

But the book also has a deeper level of biblical reference. Without giving too much away, the Baudelaires have to deal with the taste of sin. The way they find it may provoke some religious fundamentalists, who haven't always appreciated the books' themes.

Wow, lots of new characters - will all or most of them be Femal Finnish Pirates? A lot seem like men's names, but who knows.

Besides the Rabbi (who I suspect may be the same oen in the hotel), what most intrigues me is the Baudelaires' taste of sin...Something tells me this will be the most morally ambigious book yet.

A character named Friday ? ;D Wow, Handler just loves D.Defoe's works, isn't he ? I expect him to make references to "the Lord of the flies," it HAS to be the inspiration of The End ! I just hope that he'll make also references to Kunshun Takami's book (Battle Royale), but maybe I'm speculating too much ahead.

There's a very short interview with Handler in Time. It says that in The End there's a lot of "death, birth, and child rearing"
