Before I read TE, I heard that the person who ended up marrying Beatrice killed her. Where did you hear that? I think the Great Unknown is an Female Finnish Pirate submarine. Exactly what I think! I also believe that Isadora and Fiona were recruited as FFPs and the males were taken as prisoners.

theduchess: Great idea! I hadn't thought about the girls actually joining the FFP! Whoa...poor Fernald, Widdershins, Duncan, and Quigley...
And the FFP are important. Okay--in my newspaper, Lemony gave an interview saying that he was writing a pirate novel...I guess I'm being really hopeful, but maybe it has something to do with the Quagmire's adventures?

The pirate novel is actually Daniel Handler's next novel for adults, and none of his adult novels so far have had any connection to aSoUE. I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything, particularly since it's apparently set in the modern age rather than the shadowy time period that aSoUE takes place in.

Darn it! *grimaces, then recovers*
But I still do adore pirate novels...can't wait until he finishes!
