When Ish was talking to the Baudelaires in the cave, he mentioned something about a girl who had only one eyebrow and one ear. I didn't think anything of it when I first read it. But later on, I was reading the third book, and it goes:
". . .plenty of good people have those characteristics," Aunt Josephine said. "Why, my mother-in-law had not only one eyebrow, but also only one ear."
WOW! I never realized that before I reread the third book. So Aunt Josephine's mother-in-law was one of Ish's students!
It kind of ties in to the idea that all of the Baudelaire's guardians were connected in the cause for VFD, whether on one side of the schism or another.

That person would be the mother of the Anwhistles, who were old before they died, and so she must be even older, and someone who taught her would be very old indeed. Ishmael must have lived a long life... or it's a coincidence, or we're not meant to think too hard about it, just as we shouldn't think too hard about how Esmé apparently went to school with Fernald's mother. “But you can’t read every story, and answer every question, even if you’d like to.”
Edit: Also, I'm going to tell you that if you have something to add to your posts very soon after you've made them, you can edit your original post by using the "Modify" button in the upper right-hand corner of your post. It's somewhat frowned upon to unnecessarily double-post in this section, although it would be alright if you had something to add a day or so later and nobody had yet replied to you.

Thanks for that. I guess some stuff like this should just be left to the Great Unknown. . ."Be still and know that I am Snicket."

When Ish was telling that story, the whole point was that there are many different people all around the world who have a similar story to the one we focus on. Granted, there aren't many people with one eyebrow and one ear but I think we're meant to realise that although Mrs. Anwhistle is a possible candidate, it's very possible that Ish is talking about somebody else.

The Baudelaires' Aunt Josephine (and her dead husband, Ike) from the third book, The Wide Window, and Gregor Anwhistle, founder of Anwhistle Aquatics, who is mentioned in the eleventh book, The Grim Grotto.

Terrible! Probably, i dont notice, but in TE book, which was translate on Russina. And which i read. There no, any mentioning about the woman with one ear. Strange. That`s not fair.
Arising the fact which raised in English Lemony Snicket books. And which are insured in our books. Brings about final mistrust to local publisher.
However, i think that the Ish was a little bit strange men. Purpose of his life, was to make peace and quite around him. Fence other people far away. And life happy. But he was ready to use any methods and ways to reach it.
Maybe, someday someone of us. Write another story in series of Unfortunate Events, story about Lonely boy Ish. Then the truth raised.
And, please, answer - Who is Anwhistles? I dont remember that person in my books.
Tragedy, Thank you for help.Previous such text has written i too. But with new profile. Now I have recalled the password beside old and can continue to be in him.

To answer the question about who the Anwhistles were, from RemainedOnShoals-- Anwhistle is the surname for Aunt Josephine, former gaurdian of the Bauldelaire orphans, and her husband Ike. In the Wide Window, Book Three, they live on Lake Lachrymose. The Latin word for 'Lachrymose' is 'Lachrymosa,' which is a section in the last piece ever written by famous music composer Mozart. This is curious because The Bauldelaire Mother, A.K.A. Beatrice, liked to whistle that song. Mozart's works were later to be thought of as VFD coding. In short, Aunt Josephine's lat name was 'Anwhistle'
