My dear, if Snape was a vampire, wouldn't he have fangs? Wouldn't he attack at least one person? I think it just wouldn't fit.
By the way, Hagrid is a a half-giant, not giant.

I've heard this before. I don't think it's entirley false, nor do I think it's true.
But if he were a vamp wouldn't he burst into flames everytime he was in daylight? Or does that not happen in the Harry Potter universe?
About the attacking thing maybe he could make a potion to help him with that, he did it for Lupin.

Er doesn't Snape have sallow skin instead of pale skin and I never knew vampires can age....Oh well and if Snape is a vampire wouldn't he bite Sirius Black?

Right, sure, he'd bite Sirius, so then he could have Black hanging around forever---(Sarcasm) Anywa, he's not a vampire.

This is a great theory!!! I like it!!! Is it in a book somewhere or something or did you just come up with it? It seems very likely to me and I cant find anything to disprove it. ;D Merry Christmas!!!

Well, the only thing(s) that really throw me off are the fact that he ages and can go out in sunlight--- but, actually, when you look at the clues, an interesting idea. Hey, the theory could work, in theory, if vampyres are like the vampires in Fevre Dream.
If you haven't read that book, read it now. It's wonderful. Fevre Dream by George R.R. Martin. Seriously, if you like HP, you'll love this.

Wait, do you mean he was born a vampire, or he was bitten by one? Cause, if he was born one, how would he work magic? And if he was bitten, well it just dosen't seem likly. Wouldn't someone who knows a lot about the Dark Arts be able to protect themselves against a vampire. And, speaking of DADA, why would Snape want the job? Wouldn't he be worried people might be able to figure out he was a vampire. Look at Hermione, she figured out Lupins secret, so wouldn't Snape not want the job? Hmmmmmm, me thinkith me haveth stumbledeth aponeth a pointeth.

I know this is awful The Quibbleresque of me, but I think the reason he wants the DADA post is because he wants to tell everybody why he turned away from the dark side...which is because Voldemort stole his woman!!!
Told you it was remniscient of The Quibbler. I don't understand why Dumbledore has refused to give him the post for so very long unless he wants the post for ill intentions like these.

Who was his woman? Lily? I don't think Snape had, or even has a woman. But he's a cutie pie, so I claimsie him. And, I've given Johnny Depp(property of swans) back to swans. And Nightcrawler is still mine.

Blimey, he wants to be the DADA teacher because he's good at DADA . . . but his knowledge in the field is somewhat unorthodox (read: bordering on illegal) and Dumbledore knows what would happen if he appointed a former Death Eater to the job.
Er, anyway, that's how I read it.

Ok, as Ive said before, JKR really liked Darren Shan's Vampire books and maybe she's using his version of vampires for her book aswell. Here are some facts: -There are half-vampires and full-vampires -Half-vampires can go out in the sun for a few hours or so and not be burned -Full-vampires can go out in the sun only for a short amout of time, but they have to be heavely clothed -In order to become a vampire, you have to be "blooded", not bitten, which is when a full vamp and a human put there fingers together and vampire cuts through the humans fingers and puts vamp blood into him. -Both half and full vampires age, but very slowly. I think for half vamps its 5 years=1 year, full vamp is more but I cant remember. -Darren Shans vampires dont have fangs. They cut they're victims with their nails. -There a two kinds of vampires, good and bad. If Snape is a good one, which he would probably be, the good ones dont kill the people they drink blood from, only temporarily knock them out and only take what little blood they need from them. And only if they have to. So those are all little facts about Vampires from Darren Shans books. I want to believe that this rumor is true, but Im still not sure. I think it would awesome if it was though.

Hmm... interesting theory. I'm just remembering watching Bram Stoker's Dracula... I'm not sure how closely that followed the book, but in that, vampires were nocturnal... meaning they were at their best at night, and weaker during the day, but they wouldn't die in sunlight.
Let's see... another vampire book I've read is "The Last Vampire," I can't remember the author, though. Anyways, in that, it says that sunlight weakens vampires, but doesn't kill them (although some are more sensitive than others... some will sunburn really easily, while others are just like normal people in the sun). I don't think mirrors were weird around them. And... they didn't have to kill a person to drink the blood, they'd just drink what they needed and leave, and the person would be fine. Last, to become a vampire required a transfusion. They didn't age from the time they became a vampire, though... but if he was turned into a vampire as an adult (i.e. reletively recently), it could still work.
As for how it happened, maybe he was trying to defend against dark arts, but they outnumbered him and forced him... or, maybe when he was a Death Eater, he did it purposely for whatever reason (even at that point, he'd have been an adult, so....).
