Acutally...you shouldn't really belive Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it. You can believe it is if it's cited. Which it is. Look at what the first result for "gay" is on Google News. i23.tinypic.com/1627ibm.jpg

I wasn't all that surprised when I first read that. I somehow makes sense to me. It doesn't really change much in relation to the series, but it clearly means a lot to readers. I really like the idea of Dumbledore being gay. It really supports homosexual people and makes J.K. Rowling look really good. People so religious that they won't read a book because one character is gay probably wouldn't be reading Harry Potter anyway.

I don't like it. I mean...why? There's really not a lot of evidence in the series. I've always seen Dumbledore as asexual, anyway, and this tears that completely. I don't see the point in it. It's like it's just something she threw in to appease the readers. A blatant stunt, basically. Bah.

To quote Henri Ducard, "Amusing- but pointless."
Very interesting information, and I always love never-revealed-postseries-tidbits-and-facts-about-characters (damn, Lemony, that's a hint!).
I laughed when I read it. I thought it was fitting but stupid. Haha.

That's basically how I feel about it, it was pretty much a stunt to fulfill readers' inner desires rather than actual canon.

Yeah, I don't think there was much of a set-up or reasoning for Dumbledore's sexuality. However, I don't think it will lose her any readers. The only people who it would affect are those religious loonies that have been burning her books and losing court cases for years anyway.

I like it. She most likely didn't put it in the series because there would be younger readers who wouldn't understand, and it would lead to an overall bad situation. It also never really had a place in the series. The series is over now, it isn't forced on people who wouldn't understand/dislike it in the books, but for those who choose to like it, it's just a nifty little side fact.

It wasn't in the series because it didn't matter. The books are about Harry Potter, not Dumbledore. When asked the question about why Dumbledore never had a love life, or whatever it was, she was just like oh he was gay and had a crush in Grindwald [sp?]. It isn't a stunt it is just something that doesn't matter.

To womever said JKR was just giving readers what they want--they want Remus/Sirius to be gay, not old, wrinkly old people. D: I'm not happy about it, I just find it incredibly lawlful.

*shrug* I just don't see any reason for it beyond that, I mean, what does it gain her or the series itself?

I don't like this. Dumbledore was a loner man. He had no sexual interest in anything. I don't have anything against being gay, but I have a lot against Dumbledore being gay.
I think Sirius is gay and had a relationship with Remus, but Remus was never too sure about it and Sirius sort of conned him into it and he got all confused with himself and that's why he didn't want to have a relationship with Tonks at first.

Awww. That's totally better than the "REMUS AND SIRIUS WERE ALWAYS COMPLETELY INTO EACH OTHER" thingy.

I think Sirius gets a bad reputation. I don’t think Sirius and Remus were together just because they’re both hot or because they’re completely and totally in love and nothing ever ever went wrong between them but I defifnitely don’t think Sirius would con Remus into a relationship. Despite all his flaws Sirius is completely loyal to all his friends and to Harry. I didn’t really like all the mean little comments JK made about him in Deathly Hallows, like when she mentioned what a bad godfather he was. He was pretty messed up but he was pretty much comepletely devoted to everyone he loved despite being a crazy old man or a crazy young man or whatever. His heart was always in the right place even though the rest of him was messed up, which is part of why i like him. He isn't Harry who no matter how annoying he is everyone believes hes the Boy Who Did No Wrong. I think Sirius and Remus had feelings for each other and then Sirius died stupidly and Remus got with Tonks. I don’t think Remus loved Tonks but thats more because I don’t think JK can write romance, she’s a ton better at subetext. Like Remus and Sirius or Ron and Hermione. All the little subtle hints about Ron and Hermione and their cute interactions were so much better than all the drama they went through in the 6th book. Maybe if they introduced the Tonks/Remus thing more I'd buy it but it feels so random and forced to me, like Ginny and Harry. they're not really a random couple but they feel forced and weird to me.
