We already have a whole lot of sections that exclude not only newbies, but everyone who aren't moderators, UE.net originals, and even random people (Sickly Secret--what the heck do you need to get in there?). How many more do we really need? Well yeah but those moderator sections are for the privilaged people who are good members, but the new section would be for everyone who had been here for a long time so they don't necessarily have to be good members. THats why I would be miffed that I was excluded simply becuase I was new since I could be a much better member htan some of the olds. hope that made sence Well, it's already been established that this is a vain attempt to restore the hack wheeze "gilded age" of 667, so it's probably all going to be in-jokes peppered with newbie insults. In which case, yes, it's going to be a useless feature because nobody except the people who are able to get in are going to care about what's being said. |

Well, I honestly think you should rethink it, Tragedy!! This would do good for our site!!! Care to actually take the time to explain why having a segregated section would cough cough "do good for our site?" My arguments. Again. One: it goes against the entire concept of a message board, which is providing a level ground for people to congregate and talk. Two: we have like five sections that are off-limits to moderators, non-UE.net regulars,and I don't know who (SSS). SSS might even already be the section proposed in this thread; it never says who gets to go in there. Three: nobody in this thread has figured out a satisfactory, fool-proof way to determine who does and does not get into the section. You can't discriminate on age. You can't discriminate on post count, because post count != good member. You can't do quality of posts because everything is subjective. Also the fact that no matter what meter we used to judge validity for this section, there will always, inevitably, be someone who fits the criteria but does not get in. Four: kinda related to three--the scenario detailed there will beget discord. Five: it's an attempt at reliving the quote-unquote "Gilded Age" of 667, so all people would be doing would be reminiscing, doing in-jokes and talking about how much they hate newbies. Stop crying, you know I'm right. Six: EVEN BY A DEMOCRATIC VOTE, MORE PEOPLE HAVE VOTED NO THAN YES. For the VAST MAJORITY of the amount of time that this poll was going on, No was always one to three votes ahead of Yes. How much more proof that people do not like this idea do you need? Seven: having a segregated section will reflect on the board. Not having one, gasp shock, will not. People are all "we need a secret section," but what if they don't get it? Will they leave the board? WTF, of course they won't. They'd be leaving the board because of something they wanted that they didn't get, making them either crybabies or illogical, or both. Eight: quoting Tocuna, the anti-board-segregationists have had FAR BETTER ARGUMENTS than the board-segregationists. Seriously, we've put up some really great points here, even from the beginning of the thread. And what have the others said? "It was just...more supreme back then," "I can't put it in words but it was a lot better," and that you should delete the inactive accounts on 667, which I actually agree with if it's super obvious that they'll never be used. |

Right up there with the Bush administration and my high likelihood of eternal damnation. Okay, maybe a little below those. Just why would it do the board good?
