I'm just interested to find out what it is that made all of us become readers of ASOUE, when you first picked up TBB why did you keep reading? ------ I would say its because its some of the most talented writing of our day, i have been impressed with every single book in the series, i never get bored with reading it again

I was trying to rebel against the mass Harry Potter fans. I needed something to read while I was not reading Harry Potter so as to stop me being converted by them.

A friend of mine was reading them, and at my school fete, the THH was on a stand (it had just come out) so he lent me that one. I think. It's all hazy, but I think I read THH first, then I borrowed the rest from my friend because I liked them.

My teacher gave me the first book, and I loved it, so I read the rest of the series.

Wrong section, I think.
If memory serves, the first book I picked up was TAA, which I found in junior high, in a classroom where I met with a teacher to prepare for an upcoming spelling bee. I liked it, and got others from the school library.

Another teacher had recommended it to me (this was around 3 years ago). I enjoyed TBB so much that I quickly read all the rest. I think THH had just come out. That was the first year that we had Unfortunate Day at school.

Mother saw the first one in a bookstore, and told me that she'd read a good review of it. So I read it... in the bookstore. And I loved it. It was so different, and I loved the clever and flexible writing style. Repeat this pattern every few months up until around halfway through TEE, when I realised that I could no longer keep up on just these infrequent bookshop visits, and that I would have to start buying them. So I did. Possibly, but where else? Feel free to say, as my mind's a blank.

I think this thread belongs in Sardonic Series, if you really think it should be moved.

My mom had gotten TBB for my brother, thinking he would like it, but he never read it. A few years later, not too many months before THH came out, I was looking for something to read, and had heard good things about the series, so I tried TBB.
I thought it was good, but a little depressing. I read the others, but didn't get very into them. Then, around May of 2004, I had nothing to do on the internet, and remembered hearing about a movie of ASOUE, and looked it up. I found all these sites dedicated to the series, and found my old books, and read them again.
So that's my long story of how I became as obsessed as I am today.

I think this thread belongs in Sardonic Series, if you really think it should be moved. I didn't, as it happens, and was about to state my reasons - but, I swear, in the past few seconds it has been moved to Sardonic Series, and not by me. Well, I stand by whatever mysterious being - Snicketfires, Derik, Tragedy, or some other power - has made this decision, even though I disagree with it.

This kid in my class was telling me about them, so I was going to take the first one out from my school library, but it was out, so I started with TRR and became hooked.

My brother was sick, and my mom went to get some audio books for him, and came back with TBB! So, we listened to it. Now, I'm hooked!

my mom gave it to me around a few sumers ago. Me and my cousin, Justin would discuss what we would do if we were Klause when Count Olaf slapped him ;D That was the only one we had, so needless to say I was dissapointed when the libery didn't have TRR in stock . . .
