TBB, TRR, TWW: bought in the Internet for my birthday. TMM, TAA, TEE: bought in the Ineternet, too, but two months later. THH: bought in supermarket which is near my house. TCC: I read it the Internet. I don't have an edition of it. I am sorry about it because TCC is my favorite book. TSS and TGG: bought in the same supermarket like THH. TPP: bought it in Kyiv in the subway. TE: read it in the Internet, along with TCC.

I just renovated my boudoir (well, I call it that - it's more of a large bedroom), and one of the best things about it is that one of the bookcases now has two shelves dedicated to aSoUE: imageshack.us/f/827/img0036be.jpg/I own the thirteen books as The Complete Wreck, but I have two copies of TSS, one of which is signed. TUA and TBL, and the first three books in paperback. Also have the Egmont leather bound edition of TBB (signed), and a signed copy of The Ominous Omnibus. I have books 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 in audio book form. I’ve also got the magic 8 ball and The Tragic Treasury. And The Blank Book. About the signed copy of TSS - it's my favourite book, and felt that if I was going to have one signed, it should be that one. Trouble is, I live at the other side of the world to the potential sign-er, so I mailed the book to the publishers with a request. It cost a bit to post, but it was worth it. I waited months, and by the time I was thinking that it must have been lost in the mail or destroyed by arson, I received it back. Signed, stamped, and with a Lemony Snicket business card slipped inside it (which I framed). Here's the proof: imageshack.us/f/718/img0040pr.jpg/ ;D

That's an epic story of book-signing, Lemona; it was really great of them to make it work out for you.

Yeah, it was really great of the publishers. It took me by surprise - when I mailed the book, I basically thought This is unlikely to happen. It was very kind of them to also include the business card.

That's an inspiring example of a way to acquire a signature when resources aren't available. The shelf is also organized well, spatially. I can't quite make out the business card, however; what does it read?

Well, here's the best scan I could get of it: img688.imageshack.us/img688/3553/lsnicketbusinesscard.pngOh. Wow, that came out pretty badly. I'll give you the text here: Lemony Snicket Nom de Plume * HarperCollins Children's Books Attention: A. Wolfe 1350 Avenue of the Americas, NYC 10019 lsnicket@harpercollins.com Absolutely no idea what the A. Wolfe thing is about, but maybe a 667er will know.

I suspect it's probably whoever handles his mail, or some similar position.

Ah, thank you, Lemona. Interestingly enough, I think this could be A. Wolfe:

I was introduced to the series by an older cousin, we where having a sleep over at their house and she said that there is one movie that she wants us to watch (Well, you know which movie). I was really captivated with the movie and she said that it was based on books(!) I then decided to read the series as I was looking for something to read after the HP series ended. So here's the story behind each book. The Bad Beginning (HarperCollins)- We, my mom and I, went to a bookstore to buy the book as my end of the school year gift. I finished it that night. The Reptile Room (HarperCollins)- I told my mom that I finished the first book already. She gave me money to buy TRR. I finished it on the same day too. The Wide Window (HarperCollins)- Bought from the same bookstore. The Miserable Mill (HarperCollins)- Bought from the same bookstore The Austere Academy (HarperCollins)- Bought from the same bookstore. The Ersatz Elevator (HarperCollins)- This was unavailable (along with TVV) in any near bookstores. Fortunately, my cousin bought TEE and TVV in the capital. I had to wait for a week till I can read it! And that was one of the longest weeks in my life. Especially that TAA ends with a cliffhanger. The Vile Village (HarperCollins)- As I said, my cousin bought it. The Hostile Hospital (HarperCollins & Egmont)- Bought from the same bookstore as books 1-5. I have two copies of this book, I found the UK edition on a booksale. The Carnivorous Carnival (HarperCollins)- Bought from a different bookstore, but in the same mall as of the previous one. I bought it there because they have a sale. The Slippery Slope (HarperCollins & Egmont)- Bought from the same bookstore as books 1-5. I finished reading this while we were travelling and I finished aboard a ship while everybody was sleeping. It was like travelling aboard the Prospero. I have two copies of this book, I found the UK edition on a booksale. The Grim Grotto (HarperCollins)- This was unavailable in any of the bookstores nearby, so my cousin bought it again in the capital. The Penultimate Peril- Bought from the same bookstore as books 1-5. The End- Bought from the same bookstore as books 1-5. The Beatrice Letters- Bought from the same bookstore as books 1-5 Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography- This was unavailable in any of the nearby bookstore. So I asked my Aunt, who works at the capital and comes home every weekend, to buy it. So, there!

That sounds like a pretty convenient arrangement for getting the books, and you have a good story about reading TSS, too.

Those are interesting personal stories, and great too that you remember them. My TGG story is similar to your TSS: I read it near an ocean, lost it (not in the ocean, but in a bag), ordered a new one since I'd not finished it, found the original, received the new one, and it turned out to be the audiobook.

I don't own any of the books. I borrowed them all from the library. I feel like a bad fan.
