My dad is a Catholic and my mum is nothing but I am just - dunno. I don't really have a religion, y'see, cuz what is the point? All it brings is war and hatred and 'difference'. People, we are all the same no matter what symbol you follow.
But, God - thats another story. I don't really know if HE exists. Cuz sometimes when strange things that can't be explained happens, I think its him.
Like once I smacked my cousin and she told me God wouldn't be very happy I'm abusing his children and I said 'whatever' but two minutes later all the cream soda bottles were finished and before there were loads!!
*shrugs* My Question: Who invented religion? Damn them lol

*sighs* You and cream soda Kimia! When will you learn that cream soda is poison to your taste-buds? Well, we all have our oppinions. I am Catholic, but not very religious, we don't go to church or anything like that.

I mostly agree with the post by Celinra, but i have to disagree in one area. you said we are only accountable for what we know. Just because you've never heard the gospel doesnt guarantee that you go to heaven, I do believe tht children that die go to heaven. But, on the other hand, we were all created with a conscience. Even if we have never read the Bible or been witnessed to, youre conscience alerts you when you are doing something wrong. If you chose to ignore that warnng, which is ordained by God, you are sinning! Sorry. Actually, that's what I think, too, more or less. I was including the inate 'conscience' in 'what you know.' If you've never heard of God, the 'conscience' will be the extent of what you know of how to be good or bad, so you'll be accountable for that. Although, the conscience is a rather difficult thing to define, it's shaped by the environment... if your whole life, you were told that it was okay to have multiple lovers at one time or to beat people up or to kill people, for example, your 'conscience' would probably reflect that.

Why on Earth is there such a thing as religion? I mean, you grow up practiacally being told what to believe, and a good majority of people eat it all up and do so! There's nothing wrong with that, but what ever happened to think for yourself?
This is what I think: religion is too organized. Too structured. Now, when I say get rid of religion, I don't mean get rid of spiritual belief. Far from it. But do we really need organized worship? And should we really be told what to believe?
See my post on inter-faith marriage.
Mallory Grace, I couldn't agree more with you.

Actually, a lot of people don't just eat up what they're told. Judging from this board, most are 'seeing what works for them,' not just doing what their parents tell them. In case you're wondering, I've looked into other beliefs, and after looking at evidence and whatnot, I'm still a Christian. Also, organized worship is an important thing. It enables you to fellowship with others who believe what you do, to discuss and question what you believe, and grow spiritually (it's true, a person could do this on their own, but it's easier if you have someone to encourage you and support you).

OK, but I still feel its wrong where an organized worship gets really strong and starts persecuting people who don't agree with them. Namely, (and I'm not trying to offend anybody, honestly) the medieval Catholic church and modern radical Muslims. I even know some Jews here in Ohio who shut themselves from everybody else.

Well, Catholocism is a branch of Christianity... do you mean you started going to a Protestant church? OK, but I still feel its wrong where an organized worship gets really strong and starts persecuting people who don't agree with them. Namely, (and I'm not trying to offend anybody, honestly) the medieval Catholic church and modern radical Muslims. I even know some Jews here in Ohio who shut themselves from everybody else. Yes, that's when it gets bad. Unfortunately, people often bring these things up as ammunition against organized religion today, when those cases are the radicals who don't represent the religion. If you look at the Crusades, those Christians killed those who didn't agree... that's not what was taught, though. Jesus taught people to love their enemies, not kill them. If you look at Jesus' ministry, it shows this: He associated with tax collectors, prostitutes, and so on. Not all were converted, but He never hated them for it, and certainly didn't kill anyone because of it.

Thank you.
Celinra, I'm not saying that it's too much of a problem anymore, but even in society, many people don't like to mix with people of different religions. There aren't too many "attacks" anymore, at least not in the USA, but still, there is a lot of underlying segregation and misunderstanding.
And Belly of the Beast, you seem to have picked this up, but I assure you I have nothing against your religion.

Although I don't particualerly follow any religion, I do get along with people of all religions. I wouldn't care if one of my friends was a heavy christian who read the bible every night, or if one of my friends were a budist. I don't get why or how so many people can fight over their beliefs and religions, and have no consideration for others! I'm not talking about anyone in particular, it's just I know some people in my class who had a huge fight over what religions they believed in! pathetic?!
