I have one made of sparkly black moleskin. It's Indiana Jones style. I also use a memo book from the city mortuary.

I have a commonplace book with a painting on the covers, i think snicket would approve, will try an remember the name of the painting...
I write in poems i write and poems from other people, quotes from books [not just ASOUE], facts i might need, word definitions and anything i need to remember or interesting things.
I also have drawings in it and lots of bits of paper stuck to pages.
I want to make a catalogue in my bedroom [which actually has not much room from all my books etc.] of all the Snicket books.

I have a commonplace book, in which i write down things i find interesting, good quotes, codes and such. I use it very similar to the way members use them in the books, and i find it quite helpful. I just use the original Blank Book. On a side matter, i have an extra blank book in which i use for writing notes to people, for i like the outline and the quotes from the book.

I usually go to the library to take down notes, about the books and stuff related to the VFD. Try it, it's a good habit! ;D

My commonplace book is a navy blue binder. I keep all of my stories in there, along with a checklist of books I want to read, parodies of songs, notes passed in class, poems I write and some I enjoy reading, recorded conversations between friends and I, family trees of my characters, a lot of stuff like that.

I just bought two, they're really cool composition books with a brown leather front and back cover and a black spine. So far I've written a Morse code alphabet, braille alphabet, binary alphabet, a summary of the bill of rights, and a metric system conversion chart. I plan to write other useful stuff and non-useful stuff. Thoughts, lyrics, stories that pop into my head, anything really. 'tis what they are for, 'tis what I will do with them.

I usually just keep notes I take from the books in it - anything that might be notable for future use in ASOUE study. The funny thing is, my commonplace notebook is just a velvet book with the word "Journal" on it. I use The Notorious Notations (which I won in a drawing) as an actual diary.

I call the book I write my lecture notes in a 'commonplace book', it's got a bit of a VFD-inspired front page to it, and I¡¦m keeping a couple of sections free to doodle and scribble in when I should be doing work They should release a proper Snicket 'commonplace book' , not just that 'Blank Book', but something with a battered old-fashioned looking cover, with little Snicket-related things in, but much more space for writing.

Sorry if I'm a little late, I just got here. I have various ones, some for specific purposes, others not. Let me see...
-3 orange seventy-five page notebooks, flimsy but convient. One in my binder, one in my backpack/bag/purse/on hand, one at home. Used for recording quotations, writing fiction, writing rants and making general observations about my surroundings (or anything else that comes to mind). -1 black journal with a red oriental dragon design, used for recording dreams -1 pink notebook with a coil spine, used for recording definitions of dreams according to superstitious books that I find interesting. -1 general journal wherein I keep record of myself. -2 duotangs for writing fiction and fanfiction -1 binder for the above writing, as well as spare paper and occasional printed references, poetry, fiction, etc -1 small coiled notebook, my herbal. Includes medical uses, scientific classification and lore about common herbs. -2 plain journals used to record quotes, references, allusions, possible coded messages (=D?), archetypal characters, recurring dialogue etc. out of literature including our topic series here and some out of Adverbs.
Either I'm very thorough or this wasn't what you were asking for. The first and last are the most like those used by VFD.

I currently have an old black choir binder, which I use to list characters from certain books, as well as any random secrets - about the series, Lemony, Beatrice, whatever - from books. I have successfully re-read the first twelve books and found lots of secrets. Another commonplace book I have is my copy of UA - that book is absolutely packed with underlined or circled things that it's kind of hard to keep track.
PS. As I posted this, I became a Reptile Researcher. How does that system work?

I know have a new one. I intend to cover it in dark blue. Perhaps I could use my old french books cover. Seeing as it would be sort of recycling, I may do that.
