He is. When you first start it looks like just babble. Then you take out the important words. Then you have the message. I second Dante's request for the relevant page numbers. I third it.

I don't recall a part of the UA that looks like babble, unless you try Sebalding it. I second Dante's request for the relevant page numbers. It happens when you are trying to Sebalding it.

I imagine most of the UA looks like babble if you run it through the Sebald code. As do most things that aren't intended to have a coded message in them.
Just tell us what page you find the message on, and what word to start with.

You start with pages 77-82. I forgot what word though.

Pages 77 to 82, for the public knowledge, are Lemony's review of One Last Warning etc. and the following newspaper messages from himself and Eleanora Poe.
I'd take a look at it myself, but I honestly don't have the patience. I recall that RockSunner made a program which could do it, though, or something...?

A Desebalding program sounds quite useful.
I'd try looking for this message myself, but I first want to know which word to start with. It would decrease my labors by 90%.

Can you at least tell us how many words were between the coded words, jcgsebald? e.g. 10 in the Sebald code.

I took the incorrect letters from that and got "hallu".
And as for the Sebald code in the autobiography: I think that if something there were in that code, we could tell. Sebald-coded messages tend to be clumsily written in order to get all the words in the right place.

They also tend to be made obvious by the use of pencil markings, but I'll let it pass in this instance.

Well, for Sebald to start there has to be a ringing bell....And nowhere on page 77 is there a ringing bell. Not to be rude but it sounds like you're making this all up.

Look for the following words, ring, bell, or both.

I did. A couple times.
I think that if you really knew where there was a "hidden Sebald code" you would give us the page number and the exact sentence or just the exact words that you got out of those pages. But instead you are just leading us around and around in circles not giving a straight answer for anything...Which leads me to discredit all this talk of a hidden code.
