Yeah, but my bagel analogy doesn't include the fact that everyone who believes in the Christian God can still believe in the Christian God if they don't say the pledge. What they SHOULD do is give everyone who wants them raisin bagels and the people who don't want raisin bagels get everything-bagels, but I'm not entirely sure how the real-life equivalent of that would work. Just because they could believe anyway doesn't mean they wouldn't like to say it. Likewise, just because it's there doesn't mean others have to believe it or say it. I think the 'many gods' thing is an okay change, so long as you're not making me say it (if it were changed to that, I'd do the opposite of what you're doing now, I'd say the 'under God' rather than what was written). I could go on a rant about how I disagree with J about religion (i.e. that I think science proves there must be a God, that I don't think Hell will be torture), but that's better suited for another topic. |

"Many gods" makes it sound far too much like a polytheistic religion, where they have many different gods, like the Greeks or the Egyptians...
I think I'd rather it was taken out altogether than have it say "many gods", just because it could be mistaken as polytheism...

it shouldn't be one nation under anything. I thought America was a free country that wasnt under anyone's rule. We could say one nation under England, but we had a war to rule that out.

I don't think I'm going to heaven, either. And didn't I say I'm NOT willing to risk my life? Anyway, an Agnostic is one who believes that the existance of God cannot be proven--no one can be sure whether there is an omnipotent diety or not. But it doesn't matter, they burn in hell with the Atheists, the gays and Adolph Hitler, don't they? *mutters*

I will admit that I believe in many gods, and that all gods exist. If I'm otherwise good, I won't burn in Hell.
I don't believe that Hell really exists. To me it's just a metaphor, an allegory for sin. And it's fun to write about.
