Is in a week. Last year, we e-mailed this to him. He loved it and sent us this: What should we send this year?

Like the caption competition in reverse. The reaction may be more to the tune of bafflement than delight, however...
I'm short on ideas. Parodical homages to his work? Photographs of us pre-ordering The Composer is Dead?

I was thinking we could do a song. We? You and me together? I've been told I sing like a black girl.

I meant we, the forum.
But I have no problem with we, you and me. I love you no matter what race you sing like, Libby.

what if we do a few songs, each with an accompanying illustration and possibly story?
would the theme be handler, or handler's works, or ASOUE, or what?

11. If the first half of A Series of Unfortunate Events were a musical extravaganza, how would it go? J. and Shruti: First of all, Stephen Sondheim should write the songs with some apprentices like Alice (our brilliant friend on 667) and under the instruction of Daniel Handler. You guys actually mentioned me to him? Honestly, truly mentioned me to him? For real? And he read it? And he knew that I'm bloody "brilliant" writer interested in musicals? He actually sat down and read that? And thanked you? AND HE STILL DIDN'T RECONGIZE ME AT THE SIGNING? I mean, admittedly, the whole "Oh Alice" thing is easy to forget. And he probably never read that little story thing about the Waxahachie signing. He probably never got Shruti's letter about how awesome I was. But you guys told him that I was "brilliant" and should be tutored under Sondheim and HE STILL DIDN'T KNOW WHO I WAS? I love you guys. But seriously. Handler's never going to know who I am. Unless I write him something ridiculously kick-butt for his birthday. ...GIVE ME A DAY AND A HALF AND I WILL POST THE GREATEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT KNOWN TO MAN. OR LAUGHING GOD.

Haha, poor Alice.
Maybe we could send all of the new fanfics of the past year (since his last birthday)? No, that might be lame...
A song could be cool. I can sing pretty well, I have Chris Martin's range and a voice a bit like the lead singer of Irving. It'd need to be a lot like the Tragic Treasury, though, which is kind of hard to write.
