How did you guess?! Sorry to shatter your fancies, but I'm not DH in disguise, although I agree that that would be awesome. (That's funny, when I showed the forum to my little brother he was convinced Dante was DH in disguise.) You know, now that you mention it, Dante very well could be DH in disguise. Hmmmmmm.... Let's track him down and make him confess! >=D We don't need to worry about that, FD. I think Sherry Ann was talking about impersonating other DA members, which would mean there would be no shortage. Although there would be the problem of everyone impersonating the same member.

Anyway, the collaborative fanfic sounds like a good idea.
But what is Weird Ship week?

Weird Ships Week was a week where everybody would write stories featuring a weird ship. A weird ship is a relationship which is weird. e.g. Fernald and Olaf.

Oh, I thought it was for members before I read your example. I mean, PJ and Antenora etc.

PJ and Antenora can't go together! Antenora's taken by Dante! Well, there were Weird Ships Stories written about members, although they didn't have to be that weird. J wrote a few.

I thought Dante and Antenora broke up! I think I read a story with PJ in love with Charlotte. Divided or something.

If Tragedy or someone else with board-modifying powers were willing to put in the time, we could establish something like that, as we've had it in the past - password-locked boards with hints and clues hidden here and there. Again, depends on what the reward is. That scenario has caused trouble in the past.

I like this idea. If everyone contributes a bunch of ideas we'll soon have an entire database of possibilities out of which one random guess is bound to come true! The only problem with rewards, or even recognition, though, is that participants would have to wait for results until October. We'll probably want an activity to do on the day itself, too, i.e., an activity that requires little or no preparation. Maybe some sort of trivia contest, in which a question is posted at periodic intervals and answers are PMed to a judge? I've also had an idea for a thread inspired by the transcript in the UA that would involve members referring to each other by their first initial, making references to secret objects and hidden vehicles, firing off wild accusations and pleas for explanations, and updating each other on progress made to a mysterious organization, which no one seems to know much about. To make things more interesting members could impersonate/represent one another. You mean something like a chat thread, where we would impersonate VFD members? That seems like a good idea. Brunch's role-playing idea seems good too, but I agree with Sherry Ann, we don't want many repeated characters. Although I don't see another way to do it. That guest list is pretty big and there aren't enough ASOUE characters for them all. The only thing to do is to advise the members to try choosing a bit more unpopular characters, I think. Actually, I was thinking everyone would come as him or herself, unless otherwise arranged over PM. If we do a profile theme, too, then you would come as whoever you were pretending to be. So if the theme were, say, science fiction, and you changed your profile to represent Darth Vader, you would be D. Then if you'd like, you could arrange something with another member to say "I'm D representing L," and so on. Edit: Another idea for a contest, which goes along with the "draw an ASOUE cover" idea, is redesigning the ATWQ cover. Some have already presented numerous variations, so I get the sense the interest is there.

Would we use only elements from the promotions and the cover or could we use our own elements and art/images?

I was thinking everyone would work from the same material (just the cover itself), but adding an original spark is a good idea. Although I'll admit I wouldn't know what that might be, since we know so little.

For example this is a recent piece of ATWQ fanart that has been bouncing round the Lemony Snicket tag on tumblr recently: Something like this? Or a little less minimal?

Something like that is still working with the promotional material, which is great - I thought you meant illustrate something based on the information we've been given and insert that into the cover. Either is fine, so long as it has the elements of a cover (title, series name, author).

Hmm. I would be interesting if someone re-drew the cover in Helquist style, although that would take a lot of talent and time.
So who is going to organise all of the activities? The G-Mods and Mods? (Who are the G-Mods anyway?) Or would we have a small commitee?
